Re: The MONEY PIT
8 months since my last post with zero progress on the truck. Ended up selling the house in town and moved to the country. Here are a few pictures of the 2 car detached garage I had built. I hope to get back to work on the truck one of these days, I now have the room to get it done.

I about have the garage how I want it and figured it's about time for some progress on the truck. Here are a few picture of how the body is now.

Re: The MONEY PIT
Been following a lot of the builds on here and figured it's time to get started on the body.

Re: The MONEY PIT
Doesn't look like much but the PO before did some great BONDO work. Had to tack weld the screw/bolts to get the rear fenders off. I think I can MIG weld the flat parts but will need to order new rear fenders for the rear.

Re: The MONEY PIT
Just finished reading your whole thread, nicely done so far!
And congrats on your new digs, especially the garage...some day I will have a 2.5 car garage AND a 3 stall shop to do this stuff in. That is the plan anyways. A few posts back you asked about the VHT paint. I used that stuff on my intake and exhaust manifolds for the OHC6 230 I had rebuilt into a Sprint (4bbl carb, dual exhaust) and it has worked out really good so far. That rebuild is almost a year old now. A link to my CarDomain for that is in my sig. I had the parts sand blasted and as soon as I got them home and vacuumed out I tossed them in the oven. Set the temp to 500* and when the oven pinged that it had reached that temp, I set a timer for another 15-20 min. Then took them out to the garage and shot the paint on them while they were pippin hot. I did 2-3 coats while they were hot, then finished off the can after they had cooled. I know I am late posting this, but in case you or someone else goes to use this stuff again, there it is. Good luck with the body work! I have some of that to do myself here soon.

Re: The MONEY PIT
Thanks McMurphy, I didn't have the blls to use the over to bake them.. So far so good.
Thanks Alan and great progress on your truck.. Made some additional progress on mine. Got most of the bed rails down to bare metal. I plan on doing a bit more sanding and then pull the bed off of the frame to do the body work.

Re: The MONEY PIT
Once I get it off I have a few places that the metal will need to be cut out and new pieces welded in. I then plan on doing another light sanding, spay with epoxy primer, and then do the bondo work. Figure that should take me to next spring...

Re: The MONEY PIT
I've made a little progress on the bed. Got the inside down to bare metal, a patch welded in, and then took it off the truck. I knocked the rust off the bottom, treated it with ON STEP, and then coated it with ZERO RUST.
