Re: Greg65 build thread
Nothing yet. When the engine and transmission come back out I will have to drill and tap the hole. Other than the alternator getting mounted today, very little progress. Hoping my power steering pump comes in Monday.

Re: Greg65 build thread
Got all the accessories for my serpentine system mounted today. I still have to measure for the belt and make up the power steering hoses. Looks like i'll be borrowing a page from Alan's truck and using -an fittings on my hoses.

Thanks, I try to work on it when I get extra time but usually not enough to post.

Re: Greg65 build thread
I will keep that in mind. First I need to finish up the power steering lines. Sounds like a good excuse for a trip to Summit racing for the rest of the -6 AN fittings and braided hose.

Re: Greg65 build thread
Plans were for a 5.3 with the 700r4 that is already in the truck but it looks like I will be using my little 400 c.i. engine instead. Some changes will have to be made to the engine to make it more drivable but that will come in time. How is your truck coming?

Re: Greg65 build thread
I got the roof panel off and have most of that ready to go back on, I have a few things left to before I get that back on, need to clean the underside and coat it with some POR type stuff and them gonna coat it to deaden the sound and insulate it before going back on, but that has to wait a bit I have some big changes coming in my life i hope to get back on it sometime in the next three months

Re: Greg65 build thread
Last night I started working on my power steering lines. After seeing braided lines on a friend's street/strip truck a few years ago I knew this was a upgraded that my truck would have. Also after seeing them again on Alan's truck my mind was made up. The pressure line is completed and waiting to get the fitting for the return line. After reading Alan's build thread Aggie91 posted a part number for a fitting that looked perfect (parker 6 xhbu-s). Here is a list of the line and fittings I used so far.
All are -6an Russell Performance numbers: 632610 powerflex hose six feet length 1) 648050 -6 to 11/16" -18 inverted flare 2) 640380 -6 to 5/8" -18 inverted flares 3) 620421 -6an 90 degree endura shine hose ends Hope this helps

Re: Greg65 build thread
Looks great Greg!! Did you fit the inner fender for clearance? It looks like it should be good. Looks better than mine.

Re: Greg65 build thread
Thanks Alan. Yes I bolted up the radiator support and drivers side inner fender to make sure the clearance was correct. I also had to bolt on the fender to see how big of a difference the two inch springs made opposed to the 1 1/2 inch springs I took out. After the rest of the front sheet metal is bolted up it should sit about right. Today i'm trying to run down the last fitting to complete my power steering return hose.

Re: Greg65 build thread
Looking really good nice plumbing work. You may already have a plan here but for your retune line at the pump you can use a AN hose union shave the threads off one side drill the hole in the side that you took the threads off so that it slips tightly over the hard line at the back of the pump and use silver solder to sweat fit it in place.

COOL. Now I can get the p/s line completed. You don't know how much I appreciate you finding the fitting for me. Let me know if I can return the favor.

Re: Greg65 build thread
I think this fitting is the best fix for my skill set. Will try to post pictures and part numbers when completed.

Re: Greg65 build thread
I Worked in hydraulics for some time and that is the first time I have seen a fitting like the one, Shannon came up with there. I could tell by the more squared off end of the nut that it was a compression fitting but that is the fist I seen that configuration tied to an AN-male, cool deal. Must be from the automotive specialty aftermarket. You bet post the manufacturer and P/N for sure.

I'm sure Greg will post a list of parts used for this phase of his build but since I have the part # handy for the fitting I'll go ahead and post it. Hopefully he won't mind. The fitting is a Parker #6 XHBU-SS. Just trying to give back a little. I've gained so much info and help from this board and its members, that I try to pitch in where I can. Semper Fi!
