Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
haha thanks guys. ill definitly say its not my worst drawing, but im sure chip was WELL ahead of me even on his first drawing haha.
made some progress on the engine tonight, got everything cleaned with my new brush kit(best $35 ever spent), measured and mic'd, with a final plastiguage check and installed the crankshaft. ill finish the shortblock off tomorow hopefully. the last picture is my newly acquired $200 4L80e, complete 9", and my brother-in-laws 5spd out of his 84 camaro. |

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
Very sweet! I cant wait until mine gets to that point... Have you decided what accessory drive setup you are gonna use? Im still in limbo over mine. Its hard to look at the nice serpentine setups like the Vintage Air Front Runner and the March setup and think that those are worth $2000+... Not in my book! LOL

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
you could use that extra one for tuning development and testing for different parts for the one in your truck

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
suppose i could.... although i think im gonna top it with a carb/manifold, throw in cam and springs, some rod bolts and make a fun little nitrous motor. little bro and i are thinkin bout pickin up a cheap rwd car and make a drag project. 5.3+100shot, pwrglide and a built 10bolt and just go have fun. this truck is gonna take too long, i need something fun NOW! haha

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
hahaha you know ive ALWAYS wanted to do an rwd jetta. my very first car was an 87 jetta 4dr with a 2.0l/5spd and i LOVED that car. all my buddys and classmates always told me that a jetta will never be a fast car, so ive always wanted to throw a v8 in one and convert it to rwd to show them how it could be haha. unfortunately a bus drove over it in my work parking lot (worked for city transit at the time). but i dont have the time to do what i want to yet, so thatll be later in life. im lookin for some REAL easy to just bolt in and go, something i can do in a weekend with a $2500 budget.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
so after taking a closer look at my cam retainer plate, its all worn and grooved on the side that faces the cam sprocket so i ordered a new one from gm, they had the plate but the new style countersunk screws were only found in ontario. so ive got those on the way but cause im cheap and didnt want to rush ship them im waiting the 2wks for regular shipment. i know i know. haha

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
Wait, the LS6 heads had yellow springs??? Hmmmm, makes me wonder if my heads are the LS6(with hollow valves) rather than the LS2 as advertised

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
well my engine is built, everything minus front drive and intake/fuel rails is done and assembled. but now im about to lose my mind because the color i want to paint the motor/trans/rear is from duplicolor.... and duplicolor has discontinued shipping the color to canada, and no american supplier (summit/jegs/etc) will ship it accross the border....
AHHHH!!!!!!!!! fml. |
