Re: 1979 Chevy build

well my dad and my buddy jake and i went for a cruise today. We went to Kaweah Lake nice little drive for the day. I took some pictures of our trucks together and on the way back i stoped in Lemon Cove at this old service station for rent or sale. Took some pictures while there. Let me know what you guys think of the pictures. Thanks Brandon.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Sure will having some issues with it right now if the fuel sending unit doesn't fix it then the only thing left would be that some how the cam lobe for the fuel pump rod is messed up, with only 25,000 or so on the enigne i dont see how it could be that. If it is then i will be getting it towed over to my gpas and will start swaping in the mild built 350 i have ready for it.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Won't say the the fuel pump lobe is flat, has never happened to me but stranger things have happened. If you have never dropped the tank it's a good start if the fuel pump is being starved, the filter sock might be clogged or the tank might have a collection of debris on the floor.

My '81 has dual 16 gl tanks which I'm not going to bother doing anything with them, it's been sitting for over ten years more than likely wet. Found an eBay store that has the new 16 gls in virgin steel for about $65 where everyone else has them for close to $100. Might want to start fresh especially with the new E15 and E85 fuels, or you'll probably have this problem again down the road. It will cost about as much to flush and repair/recoat an old tank compared to geting a new one. Just a suggestion.

You can also look at the replacement tanks in polyurethane for $150 (I like).

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Well i finally did the swap ive been talking about. I droped in the 350 that i have had built for the past few years. I fully rebuilt this engine. I has a rv cam in it the block is out of an 89 and the heads are off a 69 camero X vin heads. Engine runs strong. Put all new parts: starter, flexplate, arp flexplate bolts, edelbrock endurashine intake with arp stainless manifold bolts and many other parts. Been driving it around with the new engine for a week so i cleaned it all up and took some pictures today let me know what you guys think.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Next up will be either a performer or a thunder avs endurashine carb. Right now im looking at aluminum radiators because during swap i noticed that it is leaking so need to put a new one before my trip to la for the brothers truck show. Will be getting the exhaust done wensday while im at work. For now just taking off the cat and stock muffler and putting a glass pack and have the exhaust exit in same location.

Nice. The dog dish caps and beauty rings on blacked out rims is a nice touch.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Well here are the first updates. Its going to be a good week getting things done before show. I bought 36sq ft of dynamat and went to town covering cab. wanted floor boards full coverage and decide under the seat to do the patches you see. i have some left over for doors. I also rewired all my audio system. very pleased with my install took some time but well worth it sounds alot better now. i sanded down a few spots and sprayed the floor with rustoleum.
