Really dig the motor you chose. Wish I could of gone that route for my build.
Sat and read from start to this point.
Great build!

Thanks Mike! Plan on working the doors next.

Re: Griffin Radiator

Small update. A giant box showed up on my door last week.

I picked up a griffin radiator. I upgraded the fans because I believe I have the extra clearance. I'm thinking about painting it black with the eastwood radiator paint.

This radiator is a little bit wider than the mount brackets for the 283 v8 radiator.

Re: Structures 65 Chevy C10

Thanks guys!

Have a little work ahead of me. Comparing the two radiators.
The 283 radiator is:
22.5 tall x 25.5 wide x 2.75 thick
The griffin radiator is:
22 tall x 25.5 wide x 3.125 thick
With the fans the overall is 6.25 thick (to center of fans)

Re: Structures 65 Chevy C10

More pics of the brackets. I powder coated the frame with semi gloss black years ago, but it seems like I have a lot of gloss black paint to use. Oh well. By the time she's on the road it'll probably all look the same dirty black...

Re: Structures 65 Chevy C10

Just came across this thread and I'm glad I did. Incredible work on the patch panels and braces. I'm patching up my fenders right now and about to start on the cab this winter. Your pics are gonna be a big help. Thanks and keep it up!

Took a minute to work in the garage over thanksgiving break. Finished up a patch panel on the inner rocker, cleaned up the gas tank mounts and put some por15 on the underside. Coated the underside of the upper roof panel with por15. Also spent some time sanding filler.

Re: Structures 65 Chevy C10

long time since you updated, have you been able to do any work since? I am curious what you decided to do with the gauges, I'm doing a turbo LS swap soon and looking for some ideas.

thanks.

Re: Structures 65 Chevy C10

Ohhh busted... well... Actually i've just been collecting parts... Other projects keep putting the poor girl on the back burner.

I want this truck to look all original on the outside. So the original gauge cluster is going to stay.

For the speedo I'm wanting to do the tail housing swap (like $500...) http://www.shiftworks.com/tailhousing.htm. You get a VSS and mechanical cable out that way. That seems to be the biggest hurdle. Temp and oil shouldn't be too difficult. I've seen some post on here where guys have tapped near the oil filter for the oil pressure line and I'm not real sure on the water temp gauge.

Re: Structures 65 Chevy C10

You can use the Dakota Digital ECD-100 and keep your stock speedo. That's what I did on my '51 and it works great. Cheaper than the tail housing swap and no more speedo cable through the firewall.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dak-ecd-100-1

You can use this for oil pressure
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g6326

For coolant temp I removed a plug from the rear of the passengers side head and tapped the hole for my stock temp sender

I will do my 64 Suburban the same way if I can ever get started on it.
