Re: 87' 4x4
Nice! Three wheeling topless! I actually had to look through your thread last week before I ordered my vintage air system to make sure my memory that you liked it was correct.

Re: 87' 4x4
Looks like it was a fun trip. Glad to see you're putting that 4x4 to its intended use!

I haven’t posted on here in a while, but my wife got me some “red square” vanity plates for Christmas that I figured were post worthy.

Re: 87' 4x4
Checkout this hillbilly aluminum skid plate I came up with this morning.
I don’t like the stock plastic ones because they cause the tank to rust, but I didn’t like have nothing at all. I wish it was a tad bit longer, but I don’t think it turned out too bad for nothing but an old sign and about 45 minutes of work. |

Re: 87' 4x4
Man reading through this whole thread was nice. You definitely have a nice rig. Was your truck an original A/C truck? I love the color and those white wheels really make the truck. Hope to see some more down the road.

That’s a great idea. The railroad probably won’t even mind...

Re: 87' 4x4
People should get the idea when they come up to the crossing guard anyway. Who needs the advanced warning Looks like it should work pretty well, and leaves access for the pressure washer to keep the crap from collecting.

Ha ha. Someone gave me that sign years ago. I don’t know where it came from. I have a game room full of signs and license plates. I had it hanging in there, but took it down a while back to make room for new stuff. I hated to cut it up, but I figured incorporating it into the truck was worth the sacrifice. |

Re: 87' 4x4
We had a beach house this week for a family vacation. I took the truck to cruise up and down the beach. First day here the power steering pump went out. Seems like there’s always something! It took two trips to town for parts and tools (60 miles round trip) but I got it fixed! The shaft and ball bearings just fell out of the pump after I took the belt off. It has still been a pretty fun trip overall!

Re: 87' 4x4
You must have headed south a ways. That beach looks too nice for any around here. Truck looks like it was having fun playing in the sand. Glad you were able to work out the PS issue although I'm sure the time it took away sucked.

Re: 87' 4x4
Hey Rick! Yeah, the truck was fun on the beach. We were actually just down at Crystal Beach, not too far. But your options for a parts store were to wait on the ferry to Galveston or drive to Winnie!
It was kind of nice going to a small town parts store. The Carquest in Winnie had a little machine shop in back. I had trouble getting the pulley off the power steering shaft and they got it off for me. Couldn’t have got that kind of service at the parts store by my house! |

Re: 87' 4x4
I got the old girl some new shoes and figured I’d show them off. They are 33x10.50 on stock 15x8 wheels. Stock suspension with no lift. No rubbing with normal driving.
Will be interesting to find out if I have any rubbing off road. There’s conflicting information on the internet about whether 33’s will fit without a lift. These being only 10.5 wide probably helps. |

Re: 87' 4x4
Looks great. I have been looking for a step side bed for my truck for a while so I can look at yours in the meantime.

Mine started out as a fleetside. I found the step side bed on Craigslist and traded a set of doors for it. It was missing a fender and needed a new tailgate. I traded a front bumper for the tailgate. I can’t remember where I found the missing fender. Probably Craigslist as well. |

Re: 87' 4x4
Ironically, I have dual tank fenders, but only one tank. I have the dual tank wiring harness but not sure when I’ll ever get around to installing the other tank.

Re: 87' 4x4
I’ve got wood! Lol
My wife and boy got me the steering wheel for Father’s Day. I already had the wood on the doors, which came out of an Anaheim conversion Suburban. It was between the door panel and carpet at the bottom. I refinished it and used it at the top since I was missing the door straps anyway. I like the way it turned out. Got lucky on how close the wheel matches the wood on the doors. Last edited by Greenlee; 06-22-2020 at 12:43 PM. |

Re: 87' 4x4
Thanks Marcus! Before this truck, I restored a Jeep CJ 5. It was beautiful when I was done. Then I wheeled the crap out of it and destroyed it. It was submerged in water a few times, and scraped and dented on countless trees and rocks. I don’t think I have a copy anymore, but I was reading Four Wheeler magazine one time in the late 90’s or early 2000’s and someone had submitted a picture of my submerged Jeep in the woops section with a made up story about how they got it stuck. I have no idea who the person was.
I got the hard core wheeling out of my system with the Jeep. I got tired of always having to repair my self inflicted damage. This is more of a daily driver, although I do love putting it in 4 wheel drive and using it every now and then! It’s pretty much all I drive on the weekends.
