Re: Gator Squared
Thanks. The seats and the console came out of a Suburban that a local was parting out. The outside part of the bracket will bolt up directly, but I will need to fab a bracket to support the inside connection points of the seat. The console will require all new mounting holes, but it is a simple install. The nice part of them being Suburban seats is that I don't have any issues on bracket height or spacing of the seats. They were made for the same seat belt system, so I won't have any issues with that.

Re: Gator Squared
You are too kind sir. The paint work is progressing slow but steady. I think I will get it sometime in July.

Re: Gator Squared
Time for the weekly prison report. They are actually making significant headway. New front bed wall is installed, metal work on the cab is complete, bed is close to being done and the doors are coming along. It may be ready for primer and block sanding within a week.
I am hopeful that the truck will be granted work release by the end of the month. Notice that I have not yet specified which month.

Re: Gator Squared
It's amazing! I went by the body shop to drop off a couple of pizzas around lunch time today (as suggested by the wise and grizzled Restorob). Seemed like a good time to do it, since there had been substantial progress during the previous week.
THEY WERE SPRAYING PAINT ON MY TRUCK! Now don't get too worked up. The were spraying the black on the frame. But still, it was a beautiful sight.

Good newz Randy.
Haha ! Sooo...... Now it's a "body shop" huh ? Any color paint anywhere is better than none, Sounds like their finally on top of the hill creeping down.

Re: Gator Squared
Weekly update time. Progress continues slow but steady. Frame and engine bay are done. Nothing fancy, just a quick coat of gloss black. It looks a lot better.
Cab is ready for primer. Doors are almost ready for primer. They are doing final body work on the bed. They found some small dips in the metal of the sidewall they are working on. They are so slight it is hard to see them. The new paint would have made it much easier to notice. I am glad they are taking the time to do it right. I wish it was going faster, but fast, cheap, high-quality work doesn't happen very often in real life. Of the three, fast is the one I am most willing to give up. The guys were appreciative of the pizza last week. I think it was money well spent. I'll get some updated pictures posted once it comes out of primer.

Re: Gator Squared
I think I have an idea for a new TV show. They can put it on that new Velocity channel that is getting all the good Discovery shows. We could call it...
Slow-verhaulin' Think of the advantages. You wouldn't need to pay a high profile designer. Since the work would be done over eight months instead of eight days, you could use the same video repeatedly. The host could do webcam interviews with the F-team who would make excuses about why things weren't going any faster, but promise it will be better next week. I'll have to work a little more on this concept and see if the network is interested. I have time.

Re: Gator Squared
Do I dare believe? The guys tell me my truck will be in primer by Friday. It is possible from looking at the truck. Imagine, all one color, no visible areas where filler has been applied, and close enough to color that I would be inspired to make room on my driveway.
We will see...
