Re: Pics of our trucks - payload

after seeing these old beauties hauling makes me wonder something. how well would a camper special work for hauling a gooseneck trailer? i ask because there is a relatively cheap one on the local cl that i would love to build up into a tow rig.

heres the truck:

Re: Pics of our trucks - payload

Sorry , No pics, but I just picked up some flagstone and I tipped the scale at 1.45 tons. I guess the HD springs are still good! I just took it real easy getting home. I'll take a pic on the next go round, but I won't push my luck on the next trip ( I'll stay between .75 and 1 ton).

Re: Pics of our trucks - payload

War Wagon's riding a little low. Just over 1 yard of 2 to 4 crushed stone. Probably 2500lbs or so. Also hauled a 2200 lb pallet of crushed limestone recently. Thinking about getting Firestone Ride-Rite or Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 helper bags to level things out.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I know I posted a load of wood from last year, but here is a load from this year. After adding the flatbed and 14bff I have 2 cord of 6' logs on. The old girl made it the 100 miles loaded with no problems.

1990 Suburban with 2000 lbs in the back pulling my 1971 GMC truck with 1500 lbs in the back. Had plenty of power with the Cummins but braking was a challenge. I towed all the way from WA to TX which was about 2500 miles.

Yet another load of yard waste from Hurricane Sandy clean-up to the landfill.
This is why I prefer step-sides for this type of work. No inner wheel wells to
prevent your load sliding right out the back.
