I can say the same of your truck, so clean. I love it! You had a tough choice, trim or no trim. It would look great either way. What did you decide?

Thank you for those super nice words , I really appreciate it. If you still dream of it maybe one day self will say "today is the day!". There are so many nice trucks on here, it's where I've drawn a lot of inspiration.

Nice looking engine cover, that looks really good in there. Is it the original cover that you smoothed out and painted?

Re: My 72 with 405/25/24's
Ben that maybe a little difficult, I've had this one for I've 15 years (a personal record for me). It's part of the family now. I'm ready to be done too. I'm picking up a 69 GMC SWB on Monday, one of each!
Keith it's a one piece fiberglass cover I bought from street and performance. Added the old script & vortec emblem to combine a little old and new, like an old truck and late model engine. Thanks, Wade |

Re: My 72 with 405/25/24's
Wade, 1st of all Bad Ass C10! 2nd, how do you like your 383 with the 700r4 setup? What are you running for gears at your rear end?
I tore the truck down from the PO and just got a new 383 (420Hp) built and bought a level 3 700r4 from BowtieOD...installed but hadn't crank it yet; am going to withing the next month. I got 3.08 gears in the rear end and am hearing from 305/350ci owners that the OD runs in too low of RPMs with the 3.08 and they have trouble with power when passing. Hadn't drove it yet but will give feedback when I do. Also I seen a yellow truck on this thread with the same Raceline wheels I have...this may/may not be how they'll look when you get them nice and tuck'd in...I bought the truck with this stance, looks like a C notch was installed in the frame for the rear, front is stock suspension. |

Re: My 72 with 405/25/24's
Is the grey/silver truck the one you bought? I had the 383/700r4 set up in the 46 Chevy truck I built and it worked very well, but I think that truck would be lighter than a square body and it'll depend what rear tire diameter your running too. The 46 had a 275/35/20 (27.58" diameter) and I put a 3:73 rear end. I'd have to agree that you'll probably need some more gear for take off and passing

Re: My 72 with 405/25/24's
Anytime. I thought that truck had 405's on it? If so, you'll definetly want 3:73's as a minimum. Post a pic when you can.

Love the fiberglass engine cover. If ever you need any fiberglass work just let me know I have miles of it.

Thanks Eric, finally went and got the exhaust put on the other day. Now to get the hood on and get the bugs out. May end up taking it to a tuner
