Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build
Thank you! They're fairly common on these trucks but I couldn't pass them up. Should hold me over until I can get my dream wheels.
I was surprised to learn they're made in the USA. That's pretty cool!

Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build
So I know this issue has been beat to death on this forum but I tried to fit my Boss 338 20x8.5 with O-Ring caps (newer version) on the front of my 1.25" rotors and, exactly what everybody on this forum would expect, it needs some very minor grinding of the rotor hub. And likely some minor dimpling of the dust cap.
Not mad about it since I knew about this issue when I bought them. They actually ALMOST seat properly but not quite. Out comes the grinder! I've also been getting in a host of parts from Summit. I'm planning to re-run my fuel system this weekend and maybe even get started on the drop. Details below on it: - 3" Belltech drop spindles - 1" CPP coil - 3" CPP coil in the rear - 2" Way2lo2 blocks - CPP adjustable trac bar - CPP shock relocators - KYB shocks

Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build
There are probably more that a few places around town that can hot tank it for you and as long as there isn't any bad rust on the inside you don't even need to coat it after.

If your tank is bad let me know, I have two that are both really clean and you are welcome to one if you can use it since I am never going to do anything with them.

Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build
Well since you asked.....
It was a super productive day but once I got out to the garage and started looking at everything I'd bought for the fuel system and how I was going to make it work, I decided I needed to try something different. Basically, the whole system was contingent upon me having the correct adapter fitting for the hard line out of the tank to a -6 AN end. Well, the line out of my tank was 5/16 and I had bought a 3/8 adapter fitting. Also, the fuel feed line from the carb I was going to use wasn't going to be delivered until the 21st. All that said, I grabbed a piece of paper and my laptop and figured out an even better solution than all the PTFE line and super expensive fittings. Here's what I ended up going with: 3/8 aluminum hard line Russell banjo carb to -6 AN fitting Various Russell 3/8 to -6 AN adapters Russell Pro Classic II braided hose Russell fuel filter Holley Red pump Earl's 5/16 hard line adapter to -6 AN fitting So, once I got that I started constructing a few hoses and connected the banjo fitting to the carb; fitting to the hard line out of the tank; and fittings to fuel pump. I'm one hose end short and am likely going to run another fuel filter before the carb but it's progress. Need to get a tube bender, too. Since flashed asked, here's a few pics. I also got my PCV valve and lug nuts while I was at Summit. Anyway, pics....

Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build
John, you are killing me! Lol
I was a one man team, didn't even get out to the garage until 11 am, cleaned up the garage, then had a 3 hour roundtrip to Summit after I spent about an hour researching new parts and finding receipts for the current stuff. Considering all that, it was a productive day. It's amazing how much time I spend looking at stuff trying to figure out the best possible route/way to do it.

Great ideas on the plumbing. Yep, it always seems to take way more time figuring out parts and sources than putting something together. A good day.

Re: 1971 GMC SWB "No Direction" LS build
Made another trip to Summit, got more of the fuel system put together and Number98 came by and helped me knock out the front drop (3" spindles, 1" coil). Next up finishing up the fuel system, dropping the rear, and getting the exhaust put together. Another set of TBSS manifolds (w/collectors) are on the way as well. Should be here next week.
No pics since I'm getting new rotors and don't have the wheels on yet. Not a bad Saturday at all. Also, goes to show you how awesome this board and it's members are. Thanks again, Number98.
