Re: Dunce's 59 Fleetside build
Bed done
Mar-k latches installed Roll pan and exhaust tips installed final fit the hood. hinges mounted all the way down in the slots and shimmed on the front hood to hinge bolt to get the back down one piece glass and door panels ect installed alignment done - no issues with the frame/sub frame install made it to its first car show : ) currently working out the bugs in the LS1 tune. big cam causing MAP sensor issues, replaced the MAF and had a fuel pressure issue (too high). Hoping to get to a dyno tuner here soon to finish sorting it out so I can drive the wheels off this thing! Decided to add the 58 hood emblem. it needed something. Thinking about a custom front bumper of some sort. perhaps something thin.. sort of stretched and straightened 69 camaro front bumper flavor Raised the front about 1 inch, had a bit too much rake. now its about 1 to 1.5 inches front to back. Can't really go much lower in the rear. Currently have about 1.75-2 inches to the bump stops and any further than that and the center of the rear end may be poking its head up through the bedwood ; ). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by dunce79; 08-12-2015 at 05:22 PM. |

Re: Dunce's 59 Fleetside build
Couple more vids after a tuning session. Pretty much found out that the cam in the LS1 I bought is probably a TREX cam, about the biggest you can shove in a stock engine. High duration, high lift, low LSA. Sounds freakin amazing at idle and with about a 4000 stall it gets up there quick. But its just a bit much if I want to drive it all the time. I purchased a Texas Speed 228 cam to replace it and hope to get that done this fall. Been having some fun with this thing and taking the time to do everything right sure pays off. The frame is solid and it rides/drives very well. Its weird being inside something that feels and looks big around you but handles like a camaro.

Re: Dunce's 59 Fleetside build
Wow, don't know how I missed this build thread. Huge congrats, the truck is looking great!
Yours reminds me how lucky I am to have had very little rust once it was sandblasted. You're very talented to yol off all the repairs and have it looks so good. I went back searching but couldn't find it. Whose 4 link kit is yours? Are you happy with it? It's adjustability, etc?

Re: Dunce's 59 Fleetside build
Thanks! Its a Fat Bar 4 link from No Limit. Very happy with it. They say the ride is much better than other kits because of the long bars. I don't have anything to compare with really but its solid and rides smooth. Simple effective kit. Love the adjustable shocks. I suppose you could fab up your own kit but I don't think the price is too bad for what you get without all the hassle of putting it together yourself.

Re: Dunce's 59 Fleetside build
Dunce, your truck looks awesome. I love the natural metal finish. Regarding the bedsides there is a gentleman in Canada that has made a mold of these bedsides. They are made out of composite and the quality looks real good. It's another option for those that want a fleetside bed vs. a stepside.
