Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Thanks for the support on it guys my step fathers words and I quote "no way in hell will that look right"

Oh well who asked him anyway (oh wait I did)

I didn't have my morning class today so I took the extra hour I had and worked on the doors a bit more

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

No need to drill holes to put a bolt through, and weld shut again later... Spot weld a piece of welding rod or a nail, or even a sheet metal tab. Grab it with vice grips and pull the low while hammering around the perimeter of the dent. You are creating extra work by welding the holes shut, creating more shrinking to have to planish out.

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

I have tried the metal tab way but always end up with more of a shrunken area where I tacked the tab on and was never able to get the dent out with the hammer around the perimeter and often times mad a bigger dent.... I use a large brass cylinder on the back of the welds it seems to take a good amount of the heat and keeps the shrinking down "usually"

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Now for the good stuff!

Friday my fiance graduated college

So when I got home that night around 10 it was full throttle to get the transmission back together once and for all!

I got my two .077 steels in the mail that day and but the entire assembly in fluid over my lunch

It took a bit of wrestling but I managed to get the trans down without killing myself or get a hernia

Pump seal out this one sure liked it's home

And torque converter filled and installed with the necessary two thuds

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Well I must have scared off the crowd

Maybe it wasn't as big an update as we all hoped for?

Now with the rake that was made I am looking more at my pancake hood proposition and I think the rake makes it so it is no longer as nose heavy as it was before thoughts?

I told her that is her new nickname according to the "man blog" as she calls it

That got the both out which is a rare sight

There was an issue with pan fitment long story short I swapped pans with my step dad his was a 7 quart RV pan mine was a stock car/truck 4 quart and he needed it to fit his 454 in his 67 elco and at the time we had no idea if or what I would stuff this engine into so now he owes me a pan that fits

Which lead to me ordering a 4qt pan and pickup from summit nothing fancy 60 bucks shipped on someone elses dollar can't beat that!

Other than that no truck time so far this week tonight I should get some though if weather permits

I have to agree. With the chopped top, it kind of needs a nose job. You seem to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Keep it up.

Looking good Val.... the BBC looks great in there. Im working on my "Wheelbarrow Firewall" right now and its no easy chore....

I think - you gotta go with the chopped hood look with that chopped roof.... it is just begging for it.

Also you need to go SUICIDE on those doors..... is just the HOTROD way!!! Cool man!

I have been rummaging and watching craigslist but I cannot find a wheel barrow that is metal not beat beyond usefulness and costs what I'm willing to spend so for now we have the "custom dead blow look"

Easy for you boys to say on the doors and hood your not the ones doing the work unless you want to come over

Here is a new one for $36 and change. Of course you will need to check the dimensions.
