That is a sweet truck! The only thing I'd do to it is replace the cab mount bushings, those wheels and tires look perfect on there!

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
I think rubber cab mounts is the way to go, I have poly on my truck (that I haven't driven yet) but I may end up switching them out. Poly is good on all the suspension parts but on cab mounts they just don't have any give that you need to have for such a long section of frame.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
If you do get new rims, keep those original ones because there in excellent shape and to buy a set that are mint are not cheap and there hard to find nowadays.
Nice truck though... Is that a matching numbers truck?? David Posted via Mobile Device

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
does anyone have pictures of a 2 1/2-4 inch drop on a long bed. I had bought a lowering kit for my 78 chevy its a Big 10 and i took the helper spring and 1 other spring out because they were cracked. I dont no if the Big 10's have heavier coil springs or not.Thank you

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Just inherited my grandpas truck. Grandma doesnt really drive it much after my grandpa passed away about 8 years ago so I finally got it. He bought it brand new in 87. It has 262,000 miles on the original engine and tranny. Neither have ever been rebuilt. It made the 3 and a half hour drive to my house with no problems. I was hoping that after washing it and trying some NU FINISH on it then it would shine up but no luck. And yes I plan on taking the camper off.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Thanks. What makes you guys think I need new cab bushings... the frame twist? The cab bushings looked good when I pulled the bed and had the bottom of the truck sandblasted before rust proofing. Probably would have been a good idea to replace them anyway though (with rubber for sure). The truck rides super rough already (4x4 3/4 ton with small load range E tires). Thats one of the many reasons I want bigger tires to improve the rough ride (also the gearing is too low for occasional highway use).
Yeah the heater hoses will be swapped to black at the next opportunity (already have them sitting here), I simply ran out of time before the car show. It was a matching numbers truck until my wife (girlfriend at the time) blew up the 350 (rods through the block everywhere) about 5-6 years ago (had ~ 15k original miles at the time). Now it has a 400sbc. The bed is off an '84 since the original was too rotted to fix. Also has chinese bumpers and a tailgate since I couldn't find mint ones when I had it re-painted a few years ago. So its far from a matching numbers truck anymore but thats fine since we'll keep it forever.

The cab just looks to be sagging a little.

Its black but because the paint is so dull it makes it look blue.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
My '80 Silverado - just traded my '94 Blazer for it Sunday... believe I came out on top. Let the project begin... my plans are to bring it back to it's original style, repaint the same colors... and swapping the 350 for my 307 (out of my previous '67 Chevy C10).
