I say HELL yea thats the right decision. Enjoy the time with your parents while they are still with you. I lost my father last summer and I would give anything if he could have helped and rode in the truck im building.

So let the flat black fly my friend and enjoy it.

I am sorry to hear about your Mom and your Dad. The time spent with you Dad is way more important. You will have no regrets when you put him first and finish the truck later. Can he spend time with you as your putting it together, even if it is just to sit and watch and make suggestions?

Thanks for all the support guys, I really appreciate it. I think it is definitely the right decision at this point. My father can help out a little here and there and I'm definitely going to need him to help me with all the finishing touches to put the truck together. I'm going to let him rest while I do the bodywork and priming. He is really good at getting the sheet metal aligned so I'm going to bother him with that when the time comes goal is to have the truck wired up and driving under its own power by the end if the summer. We will see how it works out.

Sounds like a plan Keith. You wouldn't want to get bogged down in self inflicted paint prison like mine has been for nearly 2 years/.....
Ready for you to be posting up a nice burnout

Sounds like a good plan. I think the flat black with trim, wheels and stance is going to look killer!

I lost my dad in '07 at the age of 55 to cancer. I would give anything for him to see my truck and go for a ride in it.

Sounds like you have made a good decision on the truck. Prayers for your family's health and well being.

Sounds to me like you have a great wife to help you get to this decision, she deserves some credit too!

I second this, kudos to your wife for being part of it, and supporting your work and your relationship with your parents. I say get it together and enjoy the irreplaceable time with your family, and then when you are able to paint it, your truck will have gained so much more REAL value - and I don't mean monetary value. We'll still be here thriving off of every update as usual.

Have a question for the painters out there. After I spray the epoxy, what do I use to clean the gun with? Remember I'm a noob at this so I need all the help I can get

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Well no progress on the truck, I threw my back out on Saturday and have been laid up ever since. It was really upsetting as I had big plans and a lot of time to work on the truck this weekend and I popped my back around 10am Saturday morning i finally bought a bench for my garage and as I was pulling it out of the truck, I twisted to turn and my back went. It was a humbling experience, I work out almost every day, I'm 6'3" 250 lbs and have never had a problem lifting anything, and my back has always been my strongest body part. Guess it was just a freak thing. I'm starting to feel a little better today so hopefully this weekend I can get back on it.

Thanks Mike, I'm feeling a lot better today so I should be able to get some work done this weekend. The key is to stay out of the gym this week so I don't hurt myself more

I would have had some priming and bodywork done last weekend if I didn't get hurt so hopefully I can get it done this weekend. You did say we, so does that mean your going to be in Jersey this weekend to help

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Keith, if I lived close to you I would defiantly help you out, i did work in a body shop when I was younger before I started pipeline work. I even went to Troy, Michigan to get certified on spraying Sikkens paint for GM. If I didn't work away from home so much I would have painted my truck myself. I'm gone 2 weeks at a time, it's hard to fit everything into every other weekend, mowing grass, honey do list, time with the wife, visiting family, TRUCK, etc etc. Well, you get the idea. I do do wish there were some members closer to me.

Thanks I'm feeling a lot better today so I should be good to go by the weekend. I'm sorry to hear about your back problems, I don't know how you guys do it with chronic back aches, it ended my weekend quick.

Thanks Jason, my problem is I just haven't had the time. I have every weekend but it seems like something always comes up that gets in the way of my truck time. Then this weekend I got hurt and nothing was accomplished.

And I agree, there are definitely some members that I wish lived closer to me, would be cool to hang out and work on these old trucks.
