1988 1500, with a 1991 TBI 350 motor. It's so bright red that it hurts my eyes when I look at it under the sun

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
No idea. I just bought it last month, and don't think there is any code for it. This truck was purchased by a girl (the one I bought it from), but she bought it a few years ago from a GI who needed the money. It was he who worked on the truck (custom parts, bumper, shocks, lights, etc.), and probably the one who painted it. When she bought the truck the motor was almost newly rebuilt by a local shop, and she put around 6,000 miles on the new motor before selling the truck to me.
The front axle was leaking a little oil through the pinion seal, but I had a local shop replacing the side seals too. The brake light is on at medium brightness, so I have to retrieve the code number and go from there. Other than that, the truck is in pretty good shape, and the motor now has around 6,500 miles. |

I was surprised to see that truck on CL. It will make a good tow pig for somebody down there.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Adding pics to the thread. Here is my 89 project truck and parts runner for my 68 project truck (background). It has the 350 w/auto and everything works. No dents at all.
This pic is the day I bought it for $1000

My newest addition while the CC dually get's put back together. Dropped the rear a couple more inches & installed a new fan clutch & fan to improve a/c cooling. Stereo is next...

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
I just added some shackles to it. The rake from the 4/6 drop plus the diff height of the tires was more than I care for. Now there's less than 1" of rake.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
I wish I had a better picture, but this is the only one that I know of. Dad bought this truck new in '92, I bought it from him in '00 and drove it for two years during college. It was a special order Silverado with a 4.3L/5-speed. Dad worked for a vendor that built most of GM's conveyors at the time and bought the thing for a rediculous $13-14K new with employee pricing. It could pull 19-20mpg all day and never had a single issue save for a clutch (sister learned to drive stick), one water pump and an alternator or two. When I sold it she had 200k miles and there wasn't a single thing wrong except some rock chips and a whisp of smoke on start-up. I saw it a few months later and some crack head ran it to the ground. It was actually victory red, despite the picture.
I was college poor and couldn't buy a real lowering kit, one day I was drinking beer with some farm boys and one of them said he had chucked the lowering stuff from a truck he bought behind the barn. After an hour of weed wacking, sweat and bug bites I went home with free spindles and lowered leaf springs (well maybe it cost a 12 pack?). Me and that truck were one to the point I rarely ever used the clutch after 1st gear (actually 2nd, since 1st was granny low) but she just shifted like butter and rode sooo smooth. If I still had the truck today it would have a 350, 20's, fleetside bed and no gay tail light covers!

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Yep... It was MattA's (Jack's) truck.
Funny thing is the wheels & tires were originally on my 74 that Jonboy now has. The seat was also one he was storing for me that was the right color as well so it's in there. My stuff keeps returning.....

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
I think so too. Some wheels should come along @ some point & then window tint. I think (hope) that's about it...
