I DO plan on pulling the bed off this summer to wire wheel/blast everything behind the cab and paint it black. But I'm not going to allow that to have the truck non-working for more than 2 weeks max. (So I'm telling myself)

I said a similar thing except it was to change the engine to a big block. It took a little bit longer.
Tag on my rear plate says Nov. 95. Hopefully have it on the road in a couple / 3 weeks

This is the "snowball effect" once it starts rolling it just gets bigger and harder to stop!

Its Mothers Day, I am banned from my garage, which is why I worked on my truck yesterday..... I finally installed the front suspension, after a few weekends of blasting, painting and new bushings.... Its back on!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I mounted most of my engine components, wet sanded the front end w/ 1000, 1200, then 1500 now i just have to sand it one more time with 2000 grit. I looked into why i had to shim my bed up 1 1/4" in the rear and found that some how my rear frame pulled when I C nothed it. Now i have to slice the frame and pull it back up then fill and weld it again. OH the set backs are depressing, good thing I have the wife pushing me to get it done. ( sometimes i think, she wants it done so I will give her the attention as i have the truck lately) she also wants me to start her 55 Burban next.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got a lot done this weekend. Degreased, power washed, wire brushed, prepped and POR'ed the rear axles, axle housing, housing cover, steering box, tranny and a couple dozen suspension and chassis bits. Last week I picked up the rebuilt diff complete with 3.38 gears. Hopefully get the axles assembled this week. With any luck I'll have a rolling chassis by the end of next weekend!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I replaced the fuel line and vacuumed 2gal of water out of my fuel tank. Had to pull the right exhaust header to access the fuel line coupling and found a nice rust hole in that. More new parts! (Damn)

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got the new wind windscreen fitted with no issues. I guess the up side of breaking the old glass is that the new one looks sensational without a scratch to be seen. The rubber from Classics fit great and was very pliable. I guess it helped to have someone who knows what they are doing show me the ropes.

Also fitted the new window winder repair kit, masked up the inside of the doors ready for paint tomorrow and sanded and painted all the interior window trim ready to fit up.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Schrum,

Maybe the $2,200 is the absolute lowest he will take on the truck just like he said it was.

Have you offered him the $1800 in a text message?

I know when I'm selling something and I get to the absolute bottom amount I'm prepared to sell for, I'm really not interested in any further conversation or attempt at negotiation until the potential buyer comes up with that amount.

I often get a little fed up with buyers who go back and forward wasting my time when I have been honest and up front about the price and the amount I will sell for.

It could be the case here.

Maybe $2,200 is the number that will get this truck and what you must pay to get it??

He has come down a fair bit from his original asking price and might have simply had enough.

Yes, I was trying to head over there and discuss a simple negotiation and he wouldn't answer back..I mean heck the kid knows my other side of the Family, but yet treats my side like Dirt..All he has to say is Nah man I will take $2,000 as my lowest...and I'd be like oh alright then, I'll let you know when I get the funds..but I can't argue, because then i'd have the truck taken away for good,in which I do not want..Do not understand this kid's logic, but hey if I can get the truck and its things then I'll be good

I hung a triple set of gauges to keep a closer eye on things when we do the start up. I also got the horn relocated to a button on the dash. I spent most of the weekend doing service work on my daily driver and cleaning the shop so I can have some time this week to work on the truck.

How do you ask a Family member to loan you some money ?

The kid has told me people are offering more then $2,200..and I just need $400 to get my truck, and in which I am short of the $400, so can anyone give me Tips on how to ask ?

I seriously need to get it before he ends up selling it to someone else, I'd be crushed

I would say give them an Honest "paid back by date" and do what ever it takes to pay it off before that date. That is how My brother and I do it for each other.

"Neither a borrower nor a lender be
For loan oft loses both itself and friend
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man"

Sorry, to be a Debbie Downer but I'd recommend letting it go if it means borrowing from other than a bank. Personal borrowing is almost always a bad idea. Besides, not getting it, saving and buying another would be an excellent life lesson. Just my $.02.

I am with Dan on this. There have been quite a few times I couldn't get something I really wanted that it worked out for the better.

Maybe you have something the kid likes that you can throw in as a part trade?

Don't. It will only cause grief and hard feelings. In the time you have been talking about the truck you could have earned the extra $400

If you really want the truck sell the PS3, when you get the truck you will not have time to play it anyway. Apparently you live somewhere that does not have fast food restaurants or day labor places that always have openings. If you already have one job and really want the truck take on a second for a month to get the $400, sleep is highly over rated. I started working when I was 10 to get the stuff I wanted and could not get anyone else to buy and have been ever since.

Best advise I ever got was to consider any loan to a family member a gift and if it gets paid back fine, if not no hard feelings.

And start an independent thread for your potential and buy and build.

Sorry if I come off as a hard ass but it seems no one in your family is giving you this advise, or if they are you are not taking it.
