Thanks, glad your coming along for the ride. It took a lot for me to finally settle on a set of wheels but these are here to stay for a while. Just wish I would have gone with 22's in the rear like I originally wanted when ordering the Intros before I talked myself out of it I really like the split spoke wheels as well.

Thanks Tom, the back is feeling better but not 100% yet. I'll definitely be taking you up on your offer when I get the cab back off and start block sanding it. I will need all the help I can get

Got the garage cleaned up today and pushed my truck to the other side to give me room to do some bodywork and paint. I started by masking off the Slosh Tubz and spraying the inside of them with bedliner. I couldn't believe how long it took me to mask those fenders off. I'm a total rookie at this, hope I get better and quicker at it or I'm in for a long summer painting stuff

Thanks Mike, it took me like 1 1/2 hrs to tape those off. The whole time I was like, this sucks.

Thanks Jason, I'm plugging away at it. The cover is a cheap one I got from Pepboys, it is for a 63-87 long bed. I figured I would buy a little bigger one so that it covers all the way to the floor. Good thing I did because it didn't fit all that good I just wanted to get a cheap one for now to keep the overspray and sanding dust of the truck.

Well I finally took the plunge today and shot some epoxy on the front fenders. I got the fenders prepped and then cleaned up to spray. I made a huge blunder, I mix up my paint and as I'm pouring it into the gun, somehow I knock the gun off the stand and spill probably a 1/3 of the paint all over my bench, down the gun and on me yeah good times. I managed to collect myself and spray my first coat on. Then I waited the 30 minutes SPI recommends between coats and sprayed my second coat on. I guess I got lucky when I spilled the paint, I had just enough for 2 coats.

I can say that even though I had the mishap of spilling the paint, I think I did a good job of spraying especially since it was my first time ever holding a paint gun. I do have some dust nibs but I wasn't to worried about that since I'll be sanding the fenders anyway. I have some areas of orange peel too, what do you guys suggest I do to correct that? Anyways here are some pics, tell me what you guys think.

Primer looks good to me. One thing I don't know if was mentioned, air pressure and volume are critical on hvlp setups. You need to use 3/8" hose and your pressure is set at the gun while pulling the trigger.

Thanks Chris, as far as color goes, it is staying Matte Black for now. I'm going to save the Shiney paint for someone that is actually a pro at it How is your truck coming?

Thanks Jason, if all goes well and I get a little better at spraying then hopefully it will be on the road by next spring. I'm not concerned with the paint being 100% perfect but I would like it to look decent.

I haven't had the orange peel problem with epoxy but for sure did with the high-build. I found that a little extra thinner in the soup helped. Play around with the air pressure and also the distance from your work. Do you have a regulator at the gun? Is this the HFT set? Mine has a flow-control knob on the bottom, adjacent to the air inlet. Make sure that thing is opened enough to allow plenty of air flow. I know it's expensive stuff but it might be worthwhile to gather a few sample pieces to help tune your gun before you shoot the real deal.

Thanks, I did use the harbor freight gun to shoot the epoxy. I had the air pressure knob on the bottom all the way open and then used my regulator on the gun to control the air pressure. I learned alot yesterday on what not to do so hopefully my next spray session goes better. I know one thing I can work on is my distance from the panel, I caught my arm wandering a few times. I guess it just takes practice right. I appreciate the input, I certainly need it

Thanks, I found that it wasn't that hard to spray the paint. It was really everything else that gave me some problems

Thanks Mike, I did use a 3/8" hose. Before I did anything I hooked my gun up dry and pulled the trigger to see how the air pressure was. At first I set the pressure on the gun at the recommended gun pressure of 30 psi. I realized what you are talking about because as I pulled the trigger it dropped to like 10 psi. So then I just upped the pressure coming into the gun until I had between 30-35 psi with the trigger pulled. I just think I need more practice at actually spraying the panels and setting everything up to spray

I accidentally spilled a couple drops of paint out of the top of the gun but no big deal I'll just sand them out. I also think I need to rig something up to hang the fenders instead of trying to spray them laying down.
