Mark, that spoon is looking good. I have a butcher block countertop project I was moving along on till it came time to belt sand. I can not find my sander box anywhere. But I can't see or get to everywhere, either. Things are stashed and crammed all over my place right now. I've been working on door and cabinet hardware today. I also took a vintage tin light down from behind the kitchen sink, dismantled, sanded up, and primed. I want to paint it to match the other switched wall light in my kitchen. The switch is at the doorway into the kitchen on the living room side. Right on the kitchen side and at a good height for a lamp is an electric box from the old wall-mount landline phone that is not being used. I'm moving that light there so it will be switched on when the other one does. I put a plug-in LED tube light under the cabinet over the kitchen sink to take it's place. I wired the wall light to the switch today, but still need to top coat the light. An odds and ends day A cold and wet one
Tim, I used to go to Eddie’s in Berkeley Springs and Winchester both. They were the best most affordable place to buy tires the whole time I was alive and living there. Dad still uses the store in Winchester. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, hadn't thought about them in a long while. I’ve been gone this time for close to 10 years now, I don’t know where the time goes.

Kinda weird but my dad called it a four way, that's what it has been my whole life! Kinda like couch vs sofa.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I've seen some with only three sockets and one pry bar, for hubcaps or a tire iron I guess.

Here's something really weird. I just searched star wrench and all the results are either torx wrenches or 6-point sockets and wrenches. And that's what the text in the pictures call them. That's a first for me. One listing shows 18 pc allen hex torx star wrench key set. Take your pick

Some trim screws and deck screws are star torx now.

Also on the CNC tooling I use at work, some of the inserts are attached with star torxed screws. I just bought a new set of star torx keys to take them loose.

I got a Drawer full of Allen wrenches Now

I remember the first time that I saw Torx screws. I had a Phillips screwdriver in my hand and thought WTF is this?

It's funny now. It wasn't funny then.

Yeah, "star torx" not "star". I guess the internet only knows what's new and what's next. Ask something that preceded the internet and it gets stumped. Just like the people on the social media in the thread "Why do people have to open their mouth?", a search engine will answer a question whether it knows the answer or not. The internet doesn't know what a star wrench is because it's old school. "Eeew, he said old. I hate that word"

Yeah, Berkley Springs is the original shop. They spread out to 5 or 6 shops. Used to be one in Hagerstown and Gettysburg, too. I think there are two or three now. Of course, Berkley Springs was the warehouse, so I'd take a day and ride out, get my tires, and hang around town. Plus my trick painter/body man buddy lives up top by the orchards on Rt9, so I visit him. The first set I bought from Eddie's was Desert Dogs. They always had the good off road rubber. I'd buy my 37/14.5 Armstrong Tru-Grips there.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Finished the spoon . No sanding just carving and blade scraping. Still 20 and icy here so no power sanding in the basement. Funny thing two guys rang my doorbell while I was doing it in the basement . They had brought up an 85 inch TV I get to the door one of the guy said in a proud tone “ We made it “ then said in a rather condescending tone “ It was was a little slippery on the walk and deck and you (meaning me)should have cleaned it better" looked him straight in the eye and told him he had the wrong house 190 is the next house . He just about dropped a load in his pants .

Why the hell would I need an 85 inch TV . There’s nothing on that I would care to watch . And when I do the 32 inch is more than big enough.

My next attempt I will make a larger spoon and fork

Been there done that and repeated. Heck I didn't even know what a #2 etc. Philips was until my mid 50s, probably drilled 10K #2 before. GM is even guilty of changing schrew heads for the same part, sport mirror screws are a good example.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I spent the day taking care of my wife. She got her Covid booster shot and it messed her up big time. The first one had little to no effect. The second made her a little funky. But this third one was a whole different shooting match. She is delirious. Totally out of it. It makes you wonder what they put in this stuff.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Who knows what is right. But who knows what is anything? The booster made my arm hurt more than the others. But the feller who gave it to me was digging around and it took forever, nothing like the original shots. I think I did get sore in my joints like when I get a could anymore. But I felt that way the last two nights before going to bed.

I took some pieces up to my sandblaster last Friday, the day we got a snow. She and her husband were hospitalized from covid back before the vaccines in May '20. Both had developed pneumonia. She went in worse than him, but he never came home. now she runs the business. Fortunately she was able to be at his side when he died, since she was also hospitalized. He had a stroke which cause severe brain damage. She and her sons decided to have the life support discontinued.

Sad story, but what also ties it in is she and I talked for hours. I was telling her I started drinking decafe a few weeks ago, which is working well for me. She tells me she had tried drinking decafe until she found out they use nasty chemicals in the process. I got home and checked into it and yes! They use the main ingredient used in paint stripper to wash the caffeine out! What???!!! That is just crazy. I found a site that lists all the decafe brands and what process they use. Some use a natural process w/o chemicals. I was glad to see mine uses just plain water. I had just bought a second package, too. It's Caribou brand, in case anyone is interested

My first two moderna shots kept me down for 4-5 hours each time...about 5 hours after the shot. The booster kicked my ass. Didn't hit me until about the 8th hour but, the aches, pains and headache was three fold what the first two big ones were. Lasted for damned near 8 hours, too.

My antibodies were/are very likely higher than most though. Covid damned near took me out over Christmas 2020. So, that in itself probably kicked my antibodies up a few notches. Plus, three bags of plasma was part of the treatment. Then add the 2 moderna shots...the booster had no where to go but up.

I have one of those. I love it. You will be happy. I have become a big fan of Dewalt.

I took my 90 lb. German Shepherd to the groomer today. He is a long hair Shepherd and he was getting matted hair that I just couldn't get out.

I was worried. I didn't know how he would react. He's a big boy. He can knock me off my feet. But he was fine. He was the life of the party. Running around with the other dogs and making friends. The groomers loved him and they cleaned him up nicely.

It's funny. All my neighbor's are terrified of him.

WOW! That brings back great memories. In the mid-late 70s I had a long hair Shepherd. Black with tan markings and a bit of white on his nose bridge and tail tip. Lobo was one of the best dogs I have ever had. A big boy, too. Topped out at 105#.

I had a short-term neighbor that had a shepherd that wasn't a kind dog. He thought is was pretty bad ass. He got thru the fence and jumped Lobo. It was the last thing that dog ever did. Lobo came out with only one bad tear on is left shoulder. Stood over the other dog while it bled out.

I left a note on the neighbor's door for when he got home. I told him he needed to get is dog out of my yard before I haul him off.

When he got home, he came over and just shook his head. Said if something else didn't kill him first he figured he would have to...at some point. Apologized and hauled his dog off.

RIP LOBO.

They are great dogs. But they are terrors as puppies. They chew up everything until they hit about two years old then they mellow out and you have a great dog. You also have new furniture because they destroyed all the old furniture.

I will never forget looking outside and seeing my two adolescent sheps pulling an enduro bumper across the back yard.

They grew into the best pets ever.

Figured before it got into the teens and snowmageden begins I’d heat treat the knife I’m making . Forge worked great I just need to put some sides around the fire pot to make it larger for bigger items. Tempered the blade twice at 400 in the oven . Took a nice edge now when it’s cold I can finish the handle inside .

Flame picture I was heating up the used peanut oil . Smelt like I was frying turkey

I bought my shep an "Indestructible Frisbee' It cost 15 bucks and lasted about 20 minutes until it was shredded. Not exactly indestructible.

Then I bought him a 99 cent Frisbee at Rite Aid. He totally ignored it. I guess he wasn't happy that I cheaped out.

I guess the reason why dogs chew up some things and not others is possibly what some are made of, like mice eat automotive wiring because they say the insulation mix uses soy.

Great junkyard tool right there! I want to put together a cordless kit for the junkyard: 1/2" impact, mini-grinder, Sawzall. I have the Sawzall but want a new one for working on homes and use the one I have for that rough duty.

I got together with Jimer 64, GTO Mechanic, and Old Chev 4x4 a bunch of years ago. A guy came over with a crapped out bed that Old Chev wanted to cut the skin off to create quarters for his off road race '69 Blazer. My old Sawzall (De Walt cordless) gave up the ghost on that one. The two parts separated, the screw basses all gave out. We finished the job with one holding the back half operating the trigger while the other manned the front half and did the cutting. We worked in close unison
