Project Vitamin C-10

[Alan's Classic]

Called the lumber place they want $5.75/bdft for babinga (sp) and $2.10/bdft for red oak.

Spread some filler today. I put the wheel tub in too stabilize the panels.



I will be putting a gusset of some kind in this area. It looks like a good place for a crack to form.

Seems like if you got the tools to mill the wood, it is worth going with something unique.

Is there any wood that has a natural orange tint? That might look nice against the paint.

That stuff looks like a good fit for a truck bed. I would order a sample to be sure of the color first though. Them web pictures never look the same in person. Just look at my avatar. I am really not that good looking.

I just a batch of african padauck that was really on the orange side.
i can send you a pic of the colour.
I am building a 16' dining table for a customer out of muninga(which he brought from africa a little over 30 years ago). there was only enough for the top and none avail in n/a and it is a member of the padauk family so that is what I turned to for the base. normally afr. padauk is a pretty strong red but I was looking for some that was lighter in colour and my siuplier in Ontario had a flitch cut log that was orange whuch in time will almost fade into what I want

I feel ya Bugeye. I've been catching up on threads for the past month. Had a job selling ice cream the past year and half, 80 hour weeks in nebraska all week. Had enough and opened shop back up the first of October. My girlfriend says I'm addicted to this forum! She also wonders why I have those "junk" pickups, I tell her those are my retirement projects.......someday. Great build Alan. Was gonna start on my 68 first but liking yours so might start with my 64 short fleet.

speeking of working on the bed.. I saw a truck this weekend (didnt get a pic) that used a sub bed and tail.. looked great. if I had the parts I think I would do it.

Yeah - my ex had the same perspective. When she irritated me enough about the TLC I gave to my "projects", I explained that - unlike her - they could, with enough love and money, be cherries again.

I don't remember much after that, except having to get some ice for my head.

I'll mention that the next time.... My gal's pretty understanding, she would like me find a 66 Mustang to add to the line up. She did bake a cherry pie yesterday and I made a joke that was a lot funnier to me than her! Ya gotta laugh once in a while

It might be cheaper to just get oak and stain it the color I want.

Not all my parts were triplus, but the ones I did have fit good. (if I remember correctly). The weld in patches were counter part and i had fits with all except the outer rocker.

Thats it! Thanks alan! Ive been looking for something to spray the inside of my rockers after I welded them in. I used a weld thru primer from 3M, but was unsure of the outcome. The extension with that spray is ideal!

Glad I could help

The blaster does awesome work. He even shrink wraps the parts to keep fingure prints off while handling.





Spraying DP90. I just put a light coat on because I didn't have much left. It will be good enough to keep the surface rust from forming.







The hood latch looks brand new.

Thanks for posting pics of the blasters work I called him last week and talked to him about getting a few things blasted and it is closer that where I have been going.

Everything is looking good I need to get up that way soon check out the VC10 in person

Thanks David. For the most part I do take all of the pics. But my neighbor does the action shots. I think we take turns catching each other in action on our projects. Have you seen sdaileys build yet? If not HERE it is.
