Re: My 52 GMC Build

Trip one went great zero problems there and back. 1200mi. My son and I had a great time at the AD National show over 40 trucks showed up, so many nice people. Friday before the show we did a cruse 20 min north to a car museum then went go carting. I finally shook this guys hand after all these years punching a key board. Great to finally meet you Rob.

What the heck is this thing I want one Santa!

Lots of crazy ideas for a COE. Nowhere to put one but they are pretty cool.

Hey Lowers,
I like the visor on your truck. Do you know who the manufacture is? I'm trying to find one for sale.

Thank you Lowers,
Here is my 6500 (large front clip) 4x4 with an Onan six cylinder. I think these truck look a lot better with a visor.

That's nice upside down pictures. No wonder I never get that much work done. Loading the fire wood in an upside down trailer.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Well our big fall trip is done. We where 2 weeks early this year due to my holiday schedule. So we decided to go tour the East coast of Canada. Heather and I with our 2 dogs had 2 weeks and traveled 4 provinces and 4 states. We spent time in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Passed through Quebec, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York state. We had a great time, spent 10 nights either a few feet from the ocean or easy view of the ocean. Got home with 5120km or 3200mi, no problems at all with truck or trailer.

Goodguys was cancelled last year. It turned into the fall auto fair. It was ok. Maybe next go around.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So I'm ordering the rubber seals from Steele, I did not like the LMC stuff original cross section I used. They show 3 door seal options, what are your opinion's?

Re: My 52 GMC Build

the last AD I worked on for door seals was a 54. the owner had lmc rubber installed himself and the stuff was so stiff the door wouldn't latch. he ended up removing that and we installed some softseal brand. it was like night and day. I wish I could remember the profile but sorry, my brain doesn't go back to that file, haha. I am pretty sure they only had one option on their ordering page. if there is an option for softness go with the softest one you can get. adjust the door to close properly without any seals and then add the seal. it should be soft enough to conform to the profile needed and allow the door to close without slamming it. there are some nice peel and stick options but not sure how long lasting the sticky would be if it sits out in the sun. might ask the brand of the 2 sided tape they use and maybe they could send a sample?

Thankyou That is the same problem I have had with the LMC seals have to slam my doors. I looked up Soffseal they are sold out of course. I'll go with the Steele peel and stick see how that works.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

I had the same problem with the Precision brand weatherstrip. This was before the Soffseal peel and stick was available, so I used this: https://www.metrommp.com/index.cfm?f...ET&Model=TRUCK

It's a pain to glue on but my doors shut really good. They wouldn't shut at all with the Precision brand.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

SO truck update: I ordered Soft seal door seals. Truck has been put away since end of October, always a sad day. I didn't drive it much this year due to covid trying to avoid people from coming up and talking about my truck. But I finished off the year with a 22,300 mi on the truck since I built it. It has turned out to be very reliable, just jump in and go. I did have to buy a new cone air filter this year and I blew a 20A fuse for my stereo when I was rocking out. I think that is it.
I used my old '52 to pick up my new '52 from the sandblasters.
