Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
My progress as usual is pretty dismal, but I am overloaded with harvest so taking a couple hours to do anything is a relaxing bonus for me. I have 3 project trucks currently- nobody said I was smart.. Today I fiddled with my ‘51 GMC. It’s a one ton that was a factory dump/flatbed. Soon it’ll have an original 9 foot box on it. The box I found is in really nice shape but it is still an almost 70 year old piece of farm equipment. I cut off the extra pieces of strap that were welded on and a couple shelves that were attached to the bedsides behind the fenders. Not certain what they were for? They look like big battery trays. Maybe for toolboxes, buckets, extra fuel? Whatever they were- they’re gone and I smoothed the spots with a flap wheel on my angle grinder.
Stared at the back of the truck a bit also - I want to mount the box so I can still utilize the pto dump. Not sure if anyone has done it quite like this but I’m sure I can figure it out.

Oh, MPC, I should have mentioned that the sound deadener won't replace the exhaust system!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I reinstalled the front bumper, and although I didn't get a chance to get the truck outside for photos, I did spend lots of time staring at it in the garage. I LOVE the new stance; although not as low up front, it's almost perfectly level which looks much more modern and less 1970s. It also reduces the bulbous look of the rear, giving better overall proportions. Next task: exhaust.
PS: Excuse me rambling on and on about my truck; I'm just so danged excited I can't stop!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
This morning I got the inside of the fenders primed, two cars washed (drove the Gran Sport because I couldn't park it back in the garage) all before 8:00 am, now I am at work with nothing to do.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I got some parking brake stuff sand blasted, that was it. But I left the rear fenders out in the sun all day because I didn't like how the Ospho had stayed wet in a few spots. I hope to get out there in the morning and prime the inside of them tomorrow.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Nothing special done to the truck, except that I have decided to go to work with it today. 4°C so a bit cold and dark. Took the truck out of the garage, and in the street. Close the garage door and jump in the truck, switch on the lights and... no lights !
Switch off, switch on, still no lights on the front! And here the great idea! press the foot switch and then lights on !!!!!! Go to work! 10 miles no heat in the cabin brrrr! need to use the sponge to clean the screen, but happy!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Just got back from a vacation in Utah. Visited Zion and Bryce. Also spent time looking in the backyard along the road. Found a collection in Glendale UT that had a bunch of classic Detroit iron.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Toured around to show my truck off to a couple of friends, one who owns a '23 T-bucket and the other a '51 Ford PU. I'm pretty happy with the stance.
I ordered window channel kits, and I have an appointment to get the exhaust done next week.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Didn't get crap done tonight, put away some parts is about it, but I was out there for my five minutes. I did put a photo I had printed on my truck that was photo shopped for me of my truck done! That will be a little more of a spark when I see it, I can use all the sparks I can get.
