Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Put my gr2 shocks on and decided to take it for a ride. It rode like a caddy so I decided to go relax at the house. Surfed through the forums on my wifes IPad. Got motivated went back down the garage and ripped the whole interior out of my truck to prep for floor patches, floor supports, and new cab mounts. What a great day.

I replaced the 25 year old front shocks with a new pair of KYB's gas shocks.
Next I need to do the rears.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Didn't get a whole lot done to the 72. Nephew took care of one of the cab bolts and i pressure washed the engine bay some more. But i did manage to change the oil, remove, clean and p&p the throttle body, and change the plugs and wires on my 01 tahoe. The plug wires didn't want to give up without a fight. I think they may have been the factory wires and plugs cause the wires said delphi. But i found out something interesting. It had iridium plugs in it. And the plugs had both acdelco and ngk stamps on it. I guess acdelco has ngk make some of their plugs for them

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

today was the first time i touched the truck in about a week. Well first I didn't realize i left the truck in drive last week when I was messing with the interior and went screamin out of the garage and almost slammed into my 3500. Yes I'm dumb, and yes I need a neutral safety switch. But the burnout marks look pretty good in the garage. Damn near left skidmarks in my pants too After I stopped shaking and laughing I pulled all the wheels off jacked her up and took the rear drums apart since I have a bad seal on the pass. side. Got the axles out and messed with the tie rods up front. Debating on a rear disc conversion while I got everything apart and I dont see much point in spending 4k on wheels to have an ugly drum in the background. Will take pics tomorrow though. I know this thread is useless without em

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Looks like a new crossmemeber will need to be installed (front spring fit issues) plus have the quad fully rebuilt.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

well i couldnt sleep so I got some more work done and put in an oil resevoir for my engine driven compressor and just made some misc. templates for some spots in my frame where I want to redo the Z. Figured I'd show you guys the mess I created. Finally worked up the nerve to pull my new Painless kit outta the box so will probably be laying it out this weekend.

We had 4 feet of water in the garage last month so everythings pretty much all over the place and most of my tools and more importantly my welder is still in storage which is driving me nuts. I hate a messy garage. Well, mine at least.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

^^ i really love the cowl on our trucks. Thats just about the only place in my garage I can put my beer and not wind up knocking it over. Although I will advise against testing out your new transmission, pulling hole shots in the driveway with about 12 empty bud light bottles stuffed in there. That is if you live across the street from a police station like I do.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Cut passenger side floorpan out ,chiseled floor support out. Replaced floor support and plug welded. Replaced floor and welded. 5 hours total now I need another beer to get the rust out of my teeth. One more side to go!! By the way my truck lifted up about an inch in the front just from redoing that side.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Wasn't exactly today, but I finally bought another truck and it was delivered on April 1st! Had to put another set of tires on it, the ones that came on it were basically "racing" tires! (That would be "slicks"!) lol
