Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Pretty cool, it's got FOUR MISMATCHED wheels on it.
Front left = Mid 70's Trans Am Front right = Steelie (stock?) Rear left = Pontiac Rally Rear right = I THINK a Western Wheel that was called a Turbo? You gotta be trying to make that work, ha ha!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Sorry that first pic was just the best I had from the front. The steel wheels are on there now. The snowflakes that were on the front were a bit wide. The ones that were on the rear are American Racing Vector wheels. Same wheel that was on the General Lee.
The chassis is the frame from my 54 GMC long bed that I shortened. I used the front clip and axle from a 77 Firebird parts car. Engine is the Pontiac 350 from the same Firebird. Trans is a long tail shaft th400 I had laying around. The 2nd gen f-body suspension is wide for these trucks so I threw my mismatched 14" steelies on there for better tire clearance. Front two are just steelies that would accept a hub cap, right rear I believe is an Olds wheel, left rear is Pontiac Rally II. I have 3 of these trucks

Here is my friends 1950 GMC. It's a really solid truck to begin restoration. It runs good.

Ahhhhhhhhh ... a big window project - love it. Plans aside from bringing the body back to life?

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I've already done a frame up, trying to get everything done for paint and finishing it. I have a 327 300HP/350TH in it now. later it will get a 700. I'm just building a nice driver.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
well, I don't like a filler in the middle of the bed, so I decided to come out the side. I thought I could come out below the spear, but that was way too low, so I did the spear. it's turning out very nice so far. and it really is a gonna be a driver. I won't have a car that stays parked all the time. I even kept my nova race car (71 nova 8:14 @ 178) licensed and inspected so I could drive it to week-end shows. racing is to rich for me now, so I'm doing the 59. had a 62 swb for 22 yrs. sorry about babbling on, lol.

Looks like some nice work dew468, watching for more on the build. Love the spear down the side of that body style.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks mud-man. sqrlnts, not my shop. belongs to a good friend and he lets me work on it in his shop. I had a chassis shop for 20 yrs, but had to close it and go on disability. this truck should have been a 6 month project, but its taken me over 2 yrs to get this far. things should go faster now that most body work is done. it has been around the block a couple times.
Thanks for all the compliments guys. I have a build thread on H.A.M.B. board. my user name there is also dew468. |
