Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The family wanted to go look at Christmas lights, so I suggested I’d drive them around in the back of the truck so they could have an unobstructed view in the crisp sub freezing air. Apparently they have no sense of adventure so I didn’t get to drive it tonight!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I had a dead battery this week... kinda odd. 12.0x volts.
However, it wouldn't throw over in the cold.

I put the battery charger on it and went to bed.

I checked the cells in the battery and only one cell was slightly low on water, so I topped it off with a few ounces of water.

I checked it not running at 13.4 volts after the re-charge... fired right up with no problems. I checked it running and it was running at 14.5 volts.

I was having a weird thing with my brake lights staying on... turned out the ol' stop light switch had worked itself loose, so I'm guessing it was draining the battery down enough to be a pain.

I checked and cleaned the connections on the batt. terminal to be on the safe side... snugged up the stop light switch... and put it all back together.

vroooooom.

I'm hoping that is all that it was.

Finished body work on the Camaro dash and painted it. Also installed new rubber seals in the kick panel air vents, cleaned them up a bit and reinstalled them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got my front tires swapped over to the new 15x7 wheels. The tires stretch out nicely and eliminate the puny look of the skinny front wheels. Here are the 215-70/15 tires on the old 15x5 front rims:

And here are the same tires on 15x7 wheels. (The one on the far left is a 255 rear tire):

Now if I can just manage enough restraint to wait until decent weather to put them on the truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Dropped off the bench seat at the Upolstry shop. Expect it back in a week maybe 2 at the most. Mr. Jay (Picayune, MS.) had a beautiful 1939 De Soto in house and was re-doing the interior in a Houndstooth tan cloth, talk about gorgeous. Whew-wee it was pretty. I'll have picture ready when I pick it up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Looked out the window at mine and saw it was covered in 2 feet of snow.... waiting patiently for the snow to melt so I can bring her in the shop. Need to mount my inner fenders and my passenger side door among other things....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

After plowing 8-10” of snow last night, I decided to do something fun today and slapped on the new front wheels. 20 degrees today dropping to zero tomorrow, so it will be a few days before I can take some decent photos.

Here’s a picture of the old 15x5’s on the front. The sidewalls bulge out quite a bit:

And here’s the same tires stretched over 15x7’s:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Quick get it back inside before it catches a cold. Those wheels really pop. Do you have a clear coat on that paint?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

No clear coat, it's just John Deere Blitz Black air dry enamel. It hides dirt really well. The hood and fenders are covered in dust and rain splatter and there's mud splashed on the wheel wells. I'm amazed how good it looks considering it hasn't been washed in a couple of months.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finally threw out my old gas tank (which leaked like a shower head). And installed a new one from Eckler's. Clean gas and no gas smell!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

That is going to look so cool. Can't wait to see it put together. I'm envious of having a dash that comes out. That has to make it so much easier to work on everything.
