Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
My new best friend, Bob Schrieber, brought my custom radiator panel mount over today. Fits awesome and looks fantastic! I can't decide if I should paint it clear to show it off or what? Any ideas?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Looks good! I'd brush it or polish it if you clear it....but would still look nice painted to match the black and would blend the front end together for a smooth look...

Looks great! Paint it to blend, or show it off, either way it
look like it belongs there. God I need some cool friends! KD

Agreed. Unless you're going to have other items under the hood that have that look.

sick man, thats a wicked piece! with the rest of what youve got going on id say paint it, if you had more chrome/stainless/brushed then it would fit well, but i'd say paint it to match for what youve got going on! my .02

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
We were going to make it with Young Frankenstein bead rolled in the metal. Still might get him to make a second one for me like that???

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Great idea! If beadrolled...don't paint the young frankenstein...just let the raised portion stand out on its' own!

Very nice parts line up!On the shroud, I'd do what ever you like. It's your monster after all! A little shiny won't hurt it at all!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
If you want your eyes to focus on the rad cover, then scotchbrite and clear.
If you want your eyes to focus on the engine, then paint it to match rad support. Just my two cents. |

Nice fab work!
But, based on the style of the rest of your build I'd just hit it with this and call it done: |

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Tonight's update:
In a master stroke of "use what you've got", I combined new cables to old E-Brake pedal assembly, even though my truck length grew 4 inches and the pedal location forced a longer cable location. I was able to use the factory 72 clamps and swivel mount on the 72 pedal to clamp down the 2002 cable. I built a bracket to mount to the floorboard to catch the snap end of the cable housing. From there the new style cable runs along with no outer sleeve, but I still had a corner to negotiate. I got some 1 inch conduit, bent it at Home Depot with their tubing bender, and bought a bent piece of tubing to sleeve my brake cable around the corner. After that bit of rigging my cable was going to be 10 inches short to reach the next factory mount for the dual rear cables, so I cut this small steel cable connector in the middle of the 2002 cable and welded in a 10 inch steel rod to the ends I just cut apart. E-Brake cable solved!
