Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Marathon day in the garage. Ran into a couple as yet unsolved obstacles, but got a lot accomplished nonetheless.
Not the least of which was to get the frame laid down and start hangin' springs. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
The latest Hemmings Classic Car mag had an article about campers and I saw this pic. I thought I'd post it since there's been some interest lately in old campers. Shows how much fun camping can be, LOL. Newfisher, is this you?

Hey that's a picture of me and the wife... Larry, Daryl or Daryl (I cannot recall which one) took it quite a while back.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Aligned the drivers door. All is well except rear lower corner is up about 1/8". If i adjust it so that lines up the front pull in. It was always out before, I blamed it on bad hinges and latch. Now I think the door got tweaked.

Placed the order for the rear shocks so I can get that mocked up this weekend to finish the sway bar and crossmember. Ordered my oil gauge line and day dreamed for a bit on driving this sucker

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Fought the door some more, it is a little better. Decided to wait until I hang the fenders and get the ws installed to see how that affects it. Almost acts like the upper window frame portion has been bent in a little, but I cannot see any sign of damage (metal wrinkles, etc.). Reminded myself I drove it 20 years and not to get to wound up about it. Also got the right belt for the AC so I can finish the adjustment bracket. Trying to tie up loose ends.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
The frame has alignment holes left over from original construction on the line. I think the rails were set in to a pinned jig, then the crossmembers placed and riveted. Frame shops use the same holes for straightening. Make sure your frame is square (they do move) then pick two points on each side (shackle rivet, body mount hole center, alignment hole) and use that for reference. I would use a block similar to yours to check before final welding.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
bent lower door hinge (helped a little, may need more) and replaced the door regulator rollers. Hope my door ws arrives today so I can get the doors done this weekend, if not, will finish up the welding on the gas door.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I did a little rust repair on the passenger side rocker panel. I was able to do a little recycling in that the patch came from the drivers side rocker panel. The driver side had both ends pretty much gone, but the lower middle was in good shape.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I got my windshield wipers all mounted back up with the new electric motor from brothers. Also got the tailgate mounted with the Mar-k trunions, hidden hinges and almost have the latches in.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Nice repair! How do you like those panel clamps? I find the gap a bit too big.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
They work well. What i do is fit the panel tight and mark where the clamps go, then i open that spot up a little more. If the seam is ever too tight i run my body saw blade between tacks to get a little gap.
