Keith, Did you end up welding in your filler pieces in the bed yet? I was wanting to see how you went about doing it because I will have to do the same very soon.

Thanks Scott, hopefully it doesn't turn out like a polished turd as mcbassin puts it

Thanks Mike it does feel good to look at it as a complete truck minus interior and bed wood but at the same time it is sickening that I have to pull it all back apart. I wish I was at the stage where this was the last time going together.

I haven't done the bed sides yet because I need a little help from my brother(the welder) in the welding of the pieces. It's going to be a while before he can help me out so I figured I would get the bodywork and primering done on the cab and front clip while I'm waiting. You will probably get to it way before I do.

I don't know if I'd say I'll get to mine sooner. Only time will tell I guess. Keep it up buddy. Between my boys tball and my girls softball games I don't have much time. That's what the nights are gonna be for I guess.

I'll probably have the cab and front clip painted before I get back to the bed

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Looking good.

For what its worth, I've had very good luck with the DeVilbiss Finish line gun that I have. I got the kit with the 1.3, 1.5, and 1.8 tips. I bought a 2.0 tip on Ebay to shoot high build. But the 1.8 will work. I know there are far better guns out there. But for a beginner like me, I was afraid of spending all that money then realizing I had ZERO talent My best advise for paint and body would be to just dive in and get started. The paint and body section will be your best friend. There are some VERY helpful guys over there that were always willing to help newbies like me.

Thanks for the info, I definitely think I'm going to get the Devilbliss Finish Line gun that you and Mike(mcbassin) recommended. And your right I need to just jump into it and figure it out, I'm psyching myself out right now feeling like I can't do it. I have picked up a lot of skills building this truck that I never knew I had, so maybe the paint and body will be another.

The good news is you're starting with primer. It's really easy to fix, since you'll be sanding it down anyway. You can learn decent technique just from spraying primer. It should help ease you into bc/cc later. I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't sweat it too much.

Thanks guys, I'm just waiting on my filter for my compressor to show up then I will be ready to start spraying. Plus the weather still has barely broken 65 consistently here so that won't help either. Tom I can definitely use the extra hands when I start the block sanding.

Got my side emblems mounted today, I measured about 100 times before drilling any holes. I used my original fenders as reference.
