They worked perfect. The wife never liked that I was going to run bucket seats, she saw that seat in the truck and told me to get in. She sat down next to me and said "Thats what I'm talking bout".lol Last edited by BAM55; 10-24-2018 at 12:19 PM. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
maybe you dont need to finish the truck then, just hang a big screen out in front, connect to the bluetooth speakers and tell the wife its like the old drive in days........make sure the neighbors aren't lookin......lol
how far off do you see the finish? |

Well they are never finished, but I'm shooting for making it debut by next summer, but hopefully I'll be driving it before then. All I need now to make it move on its own power is a driveshaft. I have all the new parts to make my own driveshaft I just have not gotten around to it, I've been spending my time with the mechanics and tweaking the engine. I have it all wired, brake lights, headlights, etc everthing is working and all the wires are where they suppose to go. Its all about putting it back together. I still have to paint the doors they are almost ready for paint. The bed will be painted separate. The details are a lot of work sometimes more that the major stuff. You know trying to get everything just right.[/ Last edited by BAM55; 10-23-2018 at 04:29 PM. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
yeah, I know. you spend more time figuring out the best way to do something than you do actually accomplishing the job sometimes. you just don't wanna forget something or engineer something that you think will work but then interferes with something else or looks poor. you seem to have that part figured out though.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Yeah but you are doing a nice job, sometimes it takes time to do things right. You have to be happy with it in the end. Man just keep telling yourself "It takes as long as it takes" that way there are no regrets or if I would have should have.lol

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Well I finished blending the paint on the firewall after the steering column mount fab work. It came out nice, you can't tell that I cut into that paint.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Looks great, Bam.
How far out from the new work does the blend start? I see no indication of any work at all.

Let me try to explain. First its very important that you block the repaired area to the point that the edges of the repair are milky or blending into the non repaired area. If you can feel the transition with a finger nail that is to much and the repair will show when done. After that I scuffed the whole fire wall on that side to about the center of the truck with 800 grit. I then back taped and masked off the top lip of the firewall and the center of the truck. Color is about 3 inches past this primed area after three coats. So first 1 inch, 2nd coat 2inch and 3rd another inch. Than I cleared the whole masked of area. Thanks. Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Sorry I don't do stocked, stocked suspensions are the first thing to go on my builds. I think you will have more success with stocked stuff at at stovebolt.com a lot of those guys are into stocked stuff. Yes there are guys here that do stocked builds, but stovebolt.com seems to be a completely stocked site.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Thanks Kim.
With the column mod finished, I installed the steering column and I have to say I like it much better than the ididit swivel ball I had in place before. Less busy and a smoother look in my opinion. Last edited by BAM55; 11-13-2018 at 12:28 PM. |
