Yesterday afternoon my enthusiasm got the better of me and I decided the 327 emblems on the front fenders really had to go (again)! So I pulled the emblems, scrubbed the holes, stripped the inside of the fender with a 3.5” grinder, and patched them up with JB Weld and quarters (again). This time however their deletion is permanent. They’ve bothered me ever since I installed the Buick portholes in the hood, and the 327 emblems just clash with that layout (my humble opinion).

When the freezing weather takes a bit of a break in a couple of weeks, I’ll block the fenders and give them a coating of Blitz Black out of a spray can. That should take care of the issue until something else strikes my fancy:

Without the "327" emblems, the side view looks very clean. I like that image a lot, very nice. Glad to see you back on your truck!! I ment for the body shop that painted our '86 to leave side emblems off and they forgot too, along with mirror change.

Do not remember your whole build information, have you used the "J&B weld " before to fill small sheet metal holes vs welding or other methods. Can you explain how / why, you do it a little more on the back side of the hole you are filling, you do a bridge of the hole with metal for support? Or reference previous description, please.

You have your "winter shoes " on now too.

I've been using JB Weld and JB Kwik on everything since the 1970's when I first was introduced to the product. It also makes nice patches in engine blocks and cylinder heads. I use it for anything that needs welding, and there aren't any warp problems due to excessive heat applications.

Where did you get the dagmars? Did they fit right on or did they need to be modified? Thanks

They are shown being installed about 10 pages back or so in my build thread. They are actually industrial lights that I heavily modified to make fit. They are also made out of heavy aluminum for whatever that is worth.

Got both rear ends apart today, Dana 44/ 12 bolt, now looking for person to steam clean them.

So last night my son calls and suggests he’s on the way over with something to drop off. He surprised me with a cool 2” keychain steering wheel that looks just like the one in the truck! It is made by the same outfit that makes the real wheels, and looks perfect! I stuck it to a small round cylinder magnet, and parked it right above my computer monitors. It’s so cool, and since he bought a blue one like the real wheel he bought me, I ran out in the garage last night and replaced the red wheel with the blue one! Life is good!

Thanks for the responses guys! The mini steering wheel comes with a small chain for attaching keys. Seems to me it would scratch it up, so I won't be using it for that. Just something cool to look at.

And yes that's why I showed the photo of the truck on the way back from the nursery last year. I just loved the coloring!

Here's the other non-flash shot that fell out of the posting above:



And my new 255.70R15 Radial T/A rear tires showed up yesterday. So I popped them in the trunk of the Honda with the American mags with the old Firestone tires mounted, and ran them over to get mounted and balanced. Here's a shot of the right rear mounted on the truck. I'll try and get some overall photos of the truck tomorrow:



It sure is nice having new tires again.
