Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
An elbow breaker! I drove a 10wheel dump truck for a guy that liked those things. every time I would take it off and toss it under the seat he would put it back on. after the third time I threw it in the dump box! that was the last time I saw one I guess they are ok of you are tall enough for it to clear your elbow when the wheel spins back to center.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
What i did was to drill holes in the lip of the fender and the bed sides and welded them back up like a spot weld. I am not good at makeing the joints look good around the bed sides so i thought it best to hide the welds. if you want i can take some pic's. sorry it took so long to get back the wife dragged me to the big city of NY yesterday, wow so many people in one place it's crazy!!!

Love the suicide knob, steering wheel spinner, power steering - whatever you like to call it.
Is that something you had lying around or did you buy it recently? Looking for one that has the same mounting set up. Had no luck yet with finding anything that looks as good as yours with the Chev badge and all. Posted via Mobile Device |

Good news is I've got TWO used Lokars. One a 16" and the other, more complete one is a 23". Lokar sent me parts to make the installation, I just haven't yet. So spill: is it an easy installation...without instructions? I wonder how to install/adjust the actuator arm properly? How do I know when I've got it "right"? I bought a new tranny cover too. I've just been procrastinating. Any/all advice appreciated. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
You can get the complete instructions online............just search
"Lokar 350 shifter installation" 6 page PDF. I can send link if you don't find it. I like the tall one, mine is 23". It is easy..........some of the nylock nuts that attach the banana clips are tricky to get on under the main plate, not much space.........I held them with a pair of noodle nose plars. Got a few knuckle wounds, but overall really easy. It shifts really nice. Can't wait to try it for reals. You are going to like it! |

I better go read those instructions....oh, and go shopping for some "noodle nose" pliers. I'm pretty sure I DON'T have those! But seriously, I know I will. Had one on my old '46 truck and loved it. This shifter pops out of gear into neutral if you look at it cross ways. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Noodle nose pliers are soft so they don't scratch your work. They are pretty hard to work with though. Getting your banana clip where you want it is like a game at a carnival. The "Wet noodle" type are the worst of the two

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Ok I found the Lokar instructions online. My shifter clearly mounts to the trans but I'm not sure I've got all the pieces described so I'll have to print the parts list and go review what I've got.
But Lokar customer service has been great to me so they'd likely give me anything I'm missing...and maybe free! as they've already sent me stuff for no charge. Posted via Mobile Device |

Got the bedsides back from the blaster yesterday. Worked yesterday and today welding up some holes and cracks. Put it in Epoxy primer so it wont rust. Will commence doing body work this week.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
we finished up the wiring in the dash, loomed all the wiring in the engine bay and everything going to the back, rehung the passenger side door and picked up a gallon of black epoxy primer to seal the body, once we get to that stage. I also fabbed up the mounting for the radiator and test fitted everything. This week, we finalize the wiring, install the fuel system, install the cooling system and hang the drive shaft. I'm hoping to fire this thing up in a couple weeks. A guy can dream can't he?
