I agree, the Itals are a top contender. I snagged an old 356 speedster mirror for $20. Let's see how it looks. |

Good choice. Did you make sure they clear the vent windows?

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Yeh, I think its workin. My only concern would be the amount it sticks out - could get bumped and with that tiny base on the arm...
Gotta put the seat in and simulate the vent window before final positioning, definitely. Might just have to order the Itals a for full-on comparo. I'm sure I can find another use for them if I stick with the speedsters. |

Looks like a good fit! Got a closer view of the front?
Oh Thanks for doing my mirror shopping!

Did you try the fender mount just to see how you like it?

Yeh, didn't like it. Plus I read about the many reasons not to do it: poor visibility, can't reach to adjust, they get bumped more...

Now that's a gap!
It looks like he left the door alone and just adjusted the fender? Anything you can share about his process for any of us who might dare try to replicate it?

Long story longer: I ended up using non-original doors which were in better shape than the originals. The new doors were slightly longer than the old and we had virtually no gap to work with at the front fender and rear quarter. This as well as the doors not hanging straight with the original hinges nor the hinges from the new doors. We eventually found a combination of old and new hinges as well as minor tweaks to get the to hang straight. The rear edge of the front fender was rolled forward and re-pinched and manicured. Parts of the fender edge were split and re-welded. In the process the front DS door was installed/removed probably 50 times. Lot's of work has gone into the rear as well... This week I'll post full side shots. |

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
More pics. It's very difficult to capture the progress during this phase of the build. Obviously there's still ground to cover as far as getting it all straight and aligned; rear doors to dog leg gaps for example. But it's taking shape!

Hood and decklid on. Srarting to look like a car again. Tons of time into getting everything to fit this well and we still have more room for improvement. I will say it's better than factory fitment at this point, though that's not saying a whole lot..

Thanks Marty. I have to give credit to Bruce on the panel tweaks. I'm working with him but he's the conductor.
Check out how small the hood looked in the back of the '64 |

I used the spare hood hinges from the brown car to mock up the hood (the blue ones are disassembled for powder coating).

Very nice progress on the bodylines Frizz! I know how time consuming all those little details can be. But they sure are paying off. Keep up the good work.
