Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well my son and I went on our annual boys camping trip, since it was just the 2 of us this year we decided to bring the Seadoo as well. It is legal to double tow in Ontario as long as you have a pickup/commercial vehicle and everything is capable and fully hooked up. So away we went, didn't even know it was way back there. I do have a backup camera on the trailer so I was able to keep an eye on it. 2.5hr drive later in weather that feels like over 100* we unhooked the Seadoo and backed in the trailer to our spot. Came home yesterday had a great trip.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I forgot to show how I cleaned the motor off initially, plastic over the whole trailer set motor and stand on, degrease and power wash. Worked quite well.
Then motor tear down continues need to get the heads to the machine shop to get the valves lapped and valve springs replaced. Everything looks great so far.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
No its a HEUI system and it stands for hydraulically activated electronically controlled unit injector it was developed by Caterpillar. There is a (HPOP) high pressure oil pump (motor oil) at 3000psi pumped into the oil rails. the fuel is at 60-70psi then the plunger in the injector uses the 3000psi to compress the fuel to 21,000psi. Hope that makes sense. It was one of the first electronically controlled diesels in 1994.5, it's quite a reliable system apparently.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
oooooohhh, i have seen the previous mechanical version of that before. skip the injection pump in favor of multiple hydraulic amplifiers. diesels have some really cool tech.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I Agree Jim
So My son and I are heading to the AD Nationals in one week!! Maybe I will see some of you there? My truck will have over 26,000 great miles on it, most of it pulling our camper. This trip will be the last with this motor setup.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
The AD Nationals had a cruise of 17 trucks Friday eve drive half hour to a small cruise night. We had a small casualty on the cruise (oil pressure switch let go)but got it fixed easy and then we hung out at the fairgrounds till after midnight. I got the long distance award, 508mi to get there and peoples choice top 10. We did 1065mi on the trip 18.5hrs of driving, my son William and I had a great time.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So I got the cylinder heads back, all the vales and some of the valve seats had to be replaced due to the seat faces being pitted. Probably from getting to hot due to egt temps. This motor did not have a intercooler. But all fixed up now. started to get some of my go fast bits installed.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well after taking some time to work on our new cargo trailer camper while the weather was nice, I'm back on the motor swap. I got the upgraded injectors and push rods all in and new exhaust up pipes in and wrapped. Regulated fuel return system all in, the motor is together. Then I started pulling the truck apart, I'm sad and excited all at the same time.
