Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Thanks Mike! This is the portion of the project that really tests your patience and dedication.
I want to get some thoughts on this: The car originally had a 1725cc engine with these fender badges. I bought new bezels, but I can have the inserts made with any text I would like to elude to what's hiding under the hood without giving too much away or going full cheese-ball (no Honda or VTEC). I'm thinking "Sunbeam" or "Rootes" up top with "1997" (the F20c is actually 1997cc) or "F20C" below. Thoughts, opinions, ideas? |

ROOTES & F20C
Or how about 2000 in lieu of 1997 (just as Honda did in the S2000)

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
I like F20C as well. 1997 makes me think of the year, even though I like the idea of sticking the the engine displacement like the original. Turns out there were some good hits in 97! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billb...ingles_of_1997

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Thanks gents. I thought about 2000 as well. I agree 1997 conjures images of grunge/ska bands Leaning towards ROOTES / F20C.

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
My vote is for ROOTES / F20C as well. I agree, 1997 makes me think of a year, not the engine size. If you want to go with engine size instead of type, 2000 isn't bad, or what about 2.0L?

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
I tend to prefer 2000.
Its the same format as 1725 and preserves more of the originality. It would be instantly linked to capacity as this is what Rootes intended for that model. F20C tends to look more like truck badging. |

There's always one guy who has to make life more difficult for the rest of us... You make some good points. This was the thought process behind going with 1997. |

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Sorry about that
1997 certainty felt like a year date yet 2000 doesn't for some reason. Just love this build, keep up the good work. |

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
must be an american thing , over here in the netherands we usually can get a car around in 2 weeks or so once its inside when the damage is realy bad thats taking the car apart pulling the car straight replace bodywork sanding primer and paint and putting the car back together
the only thing that can make it take longer is when parts are on backorder , the sceduling is pretty tight here i have to say showcars do need more work to get them juuuust right , i think the american paintshops trying to milk it a little too mush or there too scared of being sued because of shoddy work
