Rich Grant from Folsom Auto Body. serious talent man.... he just takes on a lot of projects at once and takes awhile to get stuff done. he's been moving lately though

Sweet, I wanna check your ride out sometime. I really like how you did your guages, looks much better than digital. And the ls sounds like a monster, I burned a good couple hours @ work going thru the whole thread, amazing stuff!

anytime man! just so you know the gauge face is actually a really light grayish color. and do yourself a favor... use Bigblock73's brackets. they are worth their weight in gold

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
i have two questions for you, I went back through and read and tried to figure it out....but the first one...you were talking about an upgraded steering box I believe, where did you get it from or did you just re-do the stock one? The second question is did you end up keeping the 10 bolt rear or did you find a 12 bolt to swap?
Thanks

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
hey Jordan, on the box i just have a stock rebuilt one. eventually im going to get the acr quick ratio box. on the rear i ended up just getting new seals, bearing, and spider gears for the 10 bolt. that is another thing i plan on upgrading in the future. probably just keep the 10 bolt and put in a posi unit.
i was just thinking its funny the 2 things i feel are the weak link in the build you picked up on. ![]()

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Where is this steering box available? Mine leaks like a seive and I was hoping to find a quick ratio box. There was a place in the Northwest I spoke to that said there's no such thing as a quick ratio box for our trucks. If there is, I'd love to hear about it...

As for the AGR steering box. It is just a rebuilt factory box. Bought one when they were MUCH cheaper 10 years ago on a GB. It isn't a quick ratio box. If you find a rebuilt one cheaper, just buy it. If you call AGR they will tell you this also. IF you want better/quicker steering, you need a R&P setup.

An 88-up truck rear axle swap may be the way to go for you as long as you can handle the minor extra width with your wheel offset. It brings the rear wheels out closer to alignment with the front. Glock35ipsc did the swap on Fred and it really helped the looks.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
haha I'm sorry about that, but I think your fine either way, and I've never heard of the quick ratio gear box, so that's new for me, and I think the 10 bolt will be fine, I think everyone swaps the 12 bolt just for piece of mind

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
sure they make quick ratio boxes...but if you're asking for a stock replacement then no they don't.
AGR makes steering boxes and has there original series and the "super truck box" and super truck box "2" series. You'll want a 12:1 for quick ratio. 13-16:1 variable is what I've been considering since this truck will also see drag strip duty. ![]() http://www.summitracing.com/search/?...ck%20box&dds=1

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
glad to help....and only on the square bodies...
A TBSS is a great vehicle as long as your cool with burning premium and getting 12-16mpg...except for the guys that either change their rear gear or add a few more. We like ours....does all we need...and a little more!
