Re: 1969 Short Wide

Hey Mike, I was lookin' at your cluster pics, and wondering-how did you tie into the dash harness? A plug? Individual wires and eyelets? Also, what did you get the light sockets out of? I was eyeballin' the van marker lights for that. Thanks for any help!

The new cluster harness is wired into the stock truck harness wiring with two connectors. Only because one wasn't enough to feed all the wires.

(Crash_OK gave me these). You could just grab a big male/female connector at your salvage to do the same.

I used a combination of side marker lamp sockets and these are the lamp sockets from late model GM cars. $5 for a handful at pull a part.

No problem Chip, I edited the post, I was corrected about the connectors. I would recommend using some type of connector(s) though, it makes super easy to pull it out.

Thanks Chip. I tried to lay one legger stripe but the dang gears are too high. Soon enough, I'm going to 3:73. The motor is strong but the high gears just aren't gonna work.

next project:

I am starting as soon as I finish my shop addition. I'm adding 40 feet to the rear or possibly just building a new shop that's 30X40'. I am just waiting on a dirt work quote. I will be breaking ground no later than October. Just getting ducks lined up.
Yes, I will start a thread in alternative tinkering section in this forum. It will be a ground up just like this one, cheap and slow

Great to hear about the extension or new shop. I am looking forward to following along on the Camaro build. Don't mind if it is slow, that is the way I work.

Looking forward to having an actual shop to work in and a space to store this truck and boat. My current space has a bunch of junk that can go if / when I add on
