Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Well got the alarm problem taken care of at work. Now back to my problem. Found out that the little spring that comes in the kit for the horn is too light weight and won't ground out the horn circuit so it'll work. So I snatched one from another tilt contact that I had. A GM spring I think and presto. The horn contact is clicking every time. But I can't find my horns here at the house so I'll have to go see if I have it in storage. But it is clicking and that's a good start to having a horn. Here's the weak spring that came in the horn kit. Didn't get a pic of the older spring but it's an original and you guys know what it looks like anyway. Just make sure you keep that old stuff handy. You may need it one day.

Exact same problem I'm having with my horn! What did you do to get that spring out?

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

It's all separate In this kit and you put it together. You put the spring in there and then the little metal plunger w/the plastic collar then you put the horn contact on with the three screws. Do you have tilt and a comfort grip horn kit?

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Ahh ok and mine was rebuilt before my dad gave it to me. And I'm guessing I have the same weak spring in mine since the metal plunger doesn't always make contact I just need to find a way to take that little mechanism apart without breaking anything. I've noticed there are kinda fragile

Thanks Matt. I did get a little done today. I got the front marker light wiring put away and the under dash lights, heater A/C control lights and the radio, cig lighter lights done. I have to do the glovebox light and run a wire to the cig light socket.

Very nice Chuck! I need to get me some of those under dash lights for my truck. What donor did you pull them from? Keep the pictures coming.
