Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

You've seen the video where a drop of water splashes into a puddle and a little stream of water comes up with another drop, and then it all settles after some ripples? Well, that's what happens, but the rock isn't quite as liquid, so it doesn't settle down all nice. I read somewhere that there are pieces of the meteorite a couple of hundred feet down.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

What a difference a day makes. We have a fire about 3 miles away from us. The ash & burned leaves & pine needles that is falling is unbelievable! When the wind shifted, this fell in 15 mins. In the pics, those are not spots on the lens, but stuff falling from the sky! Rainbirds and gas water pump have soaked the house and shop. Will be on fire watch tonight.

That is way too close. Best of luck and stay safe. We have one west of us and another to the southwest, farther away for now, we're getting light ash and a lot of smoke. Last Friday afternoon brought thunderstorms with a lot of lightning and that's what started our fires. Lots more fires all over the entire region. Bad, bad summer so far and 2 - 3 months more on the way.

That is waaay too close. Good luck tonight. I've pulled a few all nighters myself.
Not fun. Not at all.

I just got the first fire insurance estimate on the new (old) house I'm buying. $329.00 A MONTH! I realize that I live in fire country but the place has been there for 131 years and hasn't burned down yet. How much of a risk is that?

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I live in an old house about the same age. Insurance companies can be crappy about insuring old homes, like they really don't want to insure them. I've never had one throw unreasonable rates at me, but the one sent a letter stating they were not renewing me about a month before renewal time. Reason was "debris on out building roof". The cedar shakes on my barn had moss on them. I liked it but if that was a problem I could put a new roof on. They didn't give me much time and didn't give that as an option. Just we're not renewing you, and I never had a claim. Ok, no problem, I just gave another insurance company the opportunity to take my money. The shakes stayed on there 15 or more years until last fall

They are terrible with rental property too. When I rented out my house out they sent a jerk out to take pictures of all that was wrong with my house. One of which was a brand new shed that I had just had built. The reason? It had a tree branch over it. They said to move it or cut down the tree.

The 60 year old tree is huge. And it's beautiful. I'm not cutting it down. And the shed is on a concrete slab. It's not going anywhere. I told them that I would sign a waiver that if a branch hit the shed that I wouldn't file a claim. It was exempt. It would be my problem... Not good enough. They cancelled me. I had just spent a lot of money remodeling that place. There was nothing wrong with it. The insurance company just didn't want to insure it. Fine. I just found a new company. No problem. And they were cheaper. (Insert middle finger here).

I'll look for a better rate on this place. I just have to get it bought. There is another buyer gunning for it. But they seem weak. I've thrown everything I can at it. Now its just a waiting game of who gets it. My realtor says we've got it but it's not over until it's over.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I have seen stretch limos made out of some strange vehicles. Well beyond the usual Caddys and Lincolns comes things like Hummers, Jeeps, Vans, and Suburbans and even the AMC Pacer from Wayne's World, but today on the way home from work, was a Dodge Charger R/T.
It was an obvious rental, with the name and number on the back and sides, which I think detracts from the image, but I'm not involved, so who cares.
Not sure where you would be rollin a limo too at 2 on a Saturday afternoon, on a state highway to a fairly far out suburb? especially since he went past the interstate that would have taken him to the airport?
