Re: How about some pics of 47-59

I am starting to feel bad for my truck in that nobody (me) posted pics of it.
I will try to fix that.

sorry the pics are so big

Here's an updated shot of my COE sporting new wheels, also my new Frolic camper to drag behind it.

I KNOW RIGHT!!! It's looking mighty fine and ready for the road. Don't know what else needs to be done to it. However. There's always room for change.

Your truck is looking sharp, nice resto mod, love the VHX dakotas. And your two tone paint works well. Not over done.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59

Here is my 1950 I just bought. Been sitting for 15 years, picked it up friday and got the engine running Sunday.

Need to replace all of the brake components and rebuild the carb before I can drive it.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59

Here is my recently back-on-the-road 55. I got it almost three years ago from the 2nd owner, who had stored it in his backyard shed for 30 yrs and then had it painted. He was retired AF, so the Blue Flame Metallic was the closest he could come to AF blue. (of course, I have to change things) He swapped the 235 for a 283 in the 60's, so I got rid of the old worn out top end and put in heads and EFI from a 1989 IROC-Z. That took longer than expected. M22Z tranny replaced the Sag 3-spd. The 1st owner had welded a sheet of 16 gauge over the bed wood. I am now taking the bed out and putting in alum diamond plate sandwiched around a sheet of marine ply. And the roll bar is a recent find on craigslist. I have seen too many bad results on the highway. Instruments, AC and interior is also in progress, but not enough to keep it off the road. It is a million smiles per gallon. (mostly mine)

Yes, there probably are a lot running that combo. However, those pictures probably won't do you much good. It all depends on where the cab was mounted (how far off the frame), and the wheel/tire combo, the powerplant, what springs are in the frame, etc. Even the accessories (A/C, Visor, bumper or no bumper, etc.) can have a big impact on the ride height of the truck.

My dad has a '52 on an S-10 with 2" dropped spindles and it is quite low. But he is also running a 454, original steel bumper, etc.
