Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks Duane, worked on the doors this weekend. I spent all weekend sanding and smoothing them out and finally was able to spray some epoxy today. They still need work but I wanted to get them in epoxy before doing the finish bodywork on them. I don't need them rusting on me again like last time.
I initially body worked them almost two years ago and then they sat around for about 6 months after Hurricane Sandy hit as I was fixing my parents house. During that time they started to rust on all the areas left in bare metal. I had to remove the surface rust and part of the filler in areas which sucked because it was months of work down the drain. So I just sprayed some spray bomb etching primer on them and didn't look at them again until this weekend when I decided to sand the spray bomb primer off and smooth out some of the filler left behind. I had a couple of areas of surface rust to deal with again so I removed that and sprayed my epoxy. They turned out good but like I said, still need some work.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks Tom, my father is finally feeling up to coming over and helping me out with it a little which is good cause I suck at bodywork and he is really good at it. I feel like when I mix up filler I waste more then I can get on the panel seems to never go right

I can't wait to see the truck blocked and all one color, it's the culmination of all your hard work and perseverance.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks Ben, hopefully I can get the cab in the paint booth by next weekend. I will be building a cart for it on Sunday so I can roll it back and forth from the garage to the paint booth.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Oh believe me Tom I still have other colors that creep into my head it's hard to make a decision on color and stick to it when there are so many really nice colors to choose from.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Got my cab cart built yesterday, now I just need to modify my fence and add a larger gate to it. My gate now is only 5' so I have to make it bigger so I can roll the cab through it to the back yard where the paint booth is.

That's a fancy looking cab dolly Keith. Looks like it's pretty stout.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks Mike, I can't take credit for it. My father designed it, I just did cut all the wood and put it together.
Thanks Mike, good thing I work out it actually moves around really easily. I told my wife she is responsible for steering it while I push. Thanks Scott, I bolted the cab down to the dolly so it won't go anywhere, don't need it sliding off if I hit a rut in the grass

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
The trim is from Mar-K, really nice quality. I bought it off a member here that bought it brand new but never installed it.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Like your cab dolly Keith, if you have a riding mower or 4 wheeler you could pull it around with it.....

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks Jason, I only have my arms and legs to push it around now I wish I would have bought that riding lawnmower last year instead of the good ole push mower.
