Re: My 52 GMC Build
Ok so I was fighting an oil leak at the front of the motor, and getting pissed because I though it was the front main seal that I did replace it. Bad enough it was getting on my brake rotor and wheel. Turns out it was the 2 seals I did not change because I could not get the plugs out. It is for the high pressure oil rails in the heads which control the injectors, 3500psi. The plugs where rusted in and not leaking at the time of rebuild. A couple of heat cycles and higher than stock pressure and yup.
So to get them out I had to take the front accessories off and die grind around the plugs then get my impact to get them out, the drivers side did not move with my snap on 1/2" had to brake out the big Makita 3/4", and they only get torqued to 60ftlb. As you can see the seal does not look very good. Drove it to work today, all seems good.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Leaks are the worst. At least you located the source and are on your way to sealing it up...It is always something.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well maiden voyage with the new motor pulling our new camper, went great. I put 156mi on the truck driving it around before I took my new 5000lb camper we built 220mi round trip for the weekend. I need to get a bit of transmission tuning changes, just to get it to rev out a bit more under normal acceleration. Over all pulls very nice, and boy does it have some balls!!! Rolled into it leaving a stop sign and started to spin 2nd gear with a 1000lb tong weight. Fuel economy was only a bit more than with the old motor with the old trailer.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
2000km/1200mi so far, runs great and pulls like a freight train. Got a new trailer tune all set up and is perfect for my set up, holds the gear a little longer during acceleration and less fuel (almost no smoke). All the temperatures stay right where they should with or without the trailer. I'll start to play with the higher power tunes at the end of July and get it on the dyno as my friend and I are driving 9hrs to CampNdrag middle of July. In my level 3 tune (daily tune) it can spin all 4 tires shifting into 3rd at 35psi of boost and puts you in your seat.
My first official burnout, got to 3rd gear 150' long letting off.

Very cool. I have thought about Camp N Drag but it is the weekend after GoodGuys Columbus. It's hard to do 2 back to back show weekends.

Yup is there any other way? I should be putting it on the Dyno before August and drag strip before the end of the year.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So Dyno day happened 2 weeks ago, I had to put a set of singles on so they could strap it down, so I bought a 275/60/15 drag radials. It made close to what it should on the dyno, 437whp/782wtq. He could not get it to stay in over drive to load the turbo more so total boost was down at 35psi from what I see on the street of 40psi. But I am super happy with the results and knowing there is potential for more and it didn't blow up.
Oh and a picture of my first 4th gear burnout with my duallys, about 70mph wheel speed.
