Great visiting with you yesterday.
It really helps to have a coconspirator or two to keep up the momentum even at my laid back pace. .

Your trucks pics are looking good and by the way that thread on artsy truck pics is very cool.
My progress always slows down this time of year with the cold weather and Holiday season but we'll get back to it soon. Till then... Have a wonderful Christmas bro. |

Update coming soon... In case no one has noticed, I haven't installed the wiper arms to date... Recently I found a mod on Fb to change the ends to J hook style, making replacement blades easier to find... Yesterday, a friend dropped off 2 FREE donor arms... PICS SOON!!!

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Started looking at the wiper mod... but first...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Here are the Free to me "J" hook arms... Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Next to the originals... Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Here's a shot of the new arm next to the OEM part... Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr The new arm is wider, so the plan is to cut and weld to graft the new onto the old... but that'll have to wait to another day, as it is currently 21 degrees in the shed and no heat... Staying warm this afternoon...

Cool idea! I had one of the little plastic spacers break on mine. Down to just the drivers side wiper lol.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Happy New Year's!!!
DON'T DRINK N DRIVE!!! Today started off with me getting some decent tires mounted on the 20's I had traded off and ended up with again... Been needing to replace the 15's due to issues with the front drop spindles and the lowering blocks in the rear... Getting the tires mounted and balanced...FREE! Gotta love contacts in the automotive industry... Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Since rain was falling and then a heavy mist until dark, The tires were put on the back burner... I cut and welded the wiper arms, and applied the first coat of paint... then it cooled off too much to paint again... Here is a pic of the original next to the modified original... Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr ...and one more... Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr More to come after more painting tomorrow... Hello 2017!!!

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Test fit the wipers at dusk last evening... Still a minor tweaking needed.
In this position, about an inch or so of the blades are resting on the Windshield molding, so a bit of a bend, or pie cut and re-weld, needed to get the proper angle... Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr The back side of the wiper switch disintigrated during the re-installation, so another switch will be fitted now that the wipers are near serviceable... And the blower motor isn't coming on with the switch, I bench tested the blower motor and it spun when power was applied... but with the OE switch and wiring in place, nothing... Have I mentioned how I detest electrical issues??? On top of those items, I now need to change the track bar, to an adjustable one, seems the lowering springs dropped the rear enough to cause the OE bar to bind causing one side of the frame to ride higher than the other... Although this was semi-expected I also hoped I could get away with using the stock bar...NOPE!!! Just more Old Truck Modifying fun!!! Till next time...

Just think Don , myself and Rian both had our adjustable track bars sent to yours the other year we ordered from POL . But It wouldn't be hard to cut one and weld in some threaded bar to make an adjustable one

Good to see you are still hard at it. All our Oreilly managers are in St Louis this week for meetings and I'm guessing thats why you were put in charge of your store. Or could this be a promotion about to happen? Theres usually not enough knowledge behind the counter so I bet your customers are happy to have you helping them.
Stay busy buddy... |
