Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Installed a new dishwasher. Got a really nice LG for cost at Lowes. Blowing out last years models. Its super quiet and does a great job cleaning and drying the dishes ... Love it.

I bought a Frigidaire last year that a customer returned because they said it leaked. We have a repair company at work that goes through them and they said they couldnt find any problems. I got it for super cheap. Man that was the suckiest dishwasher Ive ever had ... but it didnt leak haha, I just hated it.

I made a little more progress on the RV gate this weekend.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I paid my taxes. Very disappointing. I thought they would be less. Wrong! I got hammered for $107,000. I made a lot of money in the stock market this year and the government took a big chunk of it. I'm just glad that I didn't blow the money and could pay them off.

It's funny. I was the one that invested. I took the risk. I could have lost. But I didn't and now they just take my money. They didn't do anything.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

You're supposed to plow it back in. I've managed to not dig into my retirement IRA and it's up 70% since I retired 6.5 years ago. Of course, from $1 to $1.70 is only enough to buy some bubble gum. My wife retired last Friday, and the house is now paid off, so my piddly stipend from my old employer, my SS and my wife's SS should cover the bills.

What I did was price out a new table saw. I was told previously that the store people would assemble it, so I went up to pay for it, but the new owners don't assemble things. I'm fine with that, but if I had known that, I would have driven my truck up. Turns out the fork lift tines aren't long enough to get past the back lift flap, anyway. I'm taking my son's new(-ish) Canyon up to get the saw tomorrow. Fork lift in, and either 2 X 6 planks for a ramp that I will then use to make a new gate to replace one that's old and decrepit, or my engine hoist. 500 pound cabinet saw, not something I can even lift half of, anymore.

Heck no.

I just got lucky on that stock. I got it low and it went nuts. I wanted to try something since my retirement funds don't pay jack squat. Then it bit me in my pretty rear end. I still made more than my lame retirement ever made me even after getting fleeced by the tax man. But it stung. That's the biggest bill I've ever paid in my life and I'm pretty old. Now I know why the big boys get in trouble dodging taxes. The tax man has no mercy.

That's what I get for trying to make a few extra bucks.

Swore I wasn’t going to get more firewood . But when a friend calls and says he’s clearing 4 acres on his property(160 acres)for a pavilion and do I want wood . Todays felling . That’s about 10% of what’s coming down . Some of it I’ll get milled but most is just firewood most of the wood is hickory or oak

Brought home the aforementioned table saw, and yes, my one son and I managed to lift it up onto the mobility stand. We're going to be feeling it tomorrow, though. It's only 400 pounds for the base unit, after the two 50-pound cast iron wings were out of the box. Piece of cake.

You got me to chuckle. Smoking a cherry tree is not so bad if you can get somebody to hold the heavy end for you.

Did you sweat today? I did for the first time since last year. Not ready for that much heat yet. Firewood is a cold weather sport

What I did was observe how well the carpenter bee traps I made a couple years ago are working. I got them up just before they appeared. The first year I made them they went up after those bastaads were busy. Worked but only got a few. Last year they went up earlier but after they appeared. I swear, this year I put them up, just on Monday, and then there they were yesterday. They really work. Today, out of the 6 I have two with one, one with two, and one with more than I can tell. Looks like 4 or 5. None yesterday, but in just one day they did this!

Smoke some cherry for a sweet buzz... if good food turns you on . Is cherry a wood they make pipes out of. You know, like briar pipes?

Yep. Thank goodness they don't seem interested in my front porch where the other two are hanging. I've rarely gotten one out of those two and no signs of boring started, ever. Good thing, because that is the most precious of all my exterior wood.

I just redid that trellis they tore into a couple years ago. And to replicate the old true 2" x 4" lumber dimensions I had to rip down 4 x 6s. I just turned that water gauge right side up (upside down all winter) on Monday. Those holes weren't there. They did all that yesterday! They really went at it. I have 6 more jars and plenty of scrap 4 x 4. I'm making more asap.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I got 9 carpenter bees yesterday. And I sweated just pushing my lawnmower. It got to 85* here yesterday. At dawn this morning it was 65*. I sawed my last firewood till fall, I hope, earlier this week. Used the Tru Fuel since I hope the Farm Boss will be on it's summer hiatus.

EDIT: I got 16 bees. There were 12 in the one I thought maybe 5 were in, that I took a picture of. Yesterday 2 had just 1, so 18 so far

Don't know that I've ever seen carpenter bees.
Tim, way up yonder and you are already mowing? Aw nuts! Now you've done it. I've got to go do mine now. Maybe I'll just do the first weed eating today and catch the mower part next week. It's looking a little shaggy around here. We've just had rain storms and twisters the last 3 days and another round of rain coming toward the weekend.

Nothing but gravel and dirt here. But I don't miss mowing lawns. Not even a little bit.

I don't own a lawnmower or a snow shovel and that's how I like it.
