The idea is, that you/me beat out the creases and the bows come out on their own.

Got the dent thing figure out, it takes time. I still need to cut the piece in behind the fender out to get a dolly in there. No biggie. I was going to do that tonight but it took a bit longer to sandblast and prime my wheels than I thought. I did mess with the dent a little. I think with several more hours of work it will look real good.

Heres some inspiration for ya. This is my first full on build. I've lifted several rides and did this and that. But this is a total learn as I go project. I have some basic welding knowledge and can work on a motor. But most of this is a first for me, like the dent, lol.... I was told by my uncle that when I started this project (long-long ago) that its only metal, you can't really mess it up. If it gets too bad, cut it out and weld a new piece in If I can do it, anyone can, if you have patience

Yep me too, I was worried there for a few hours I wasn't going to figure it out. But with a couple pm's to some board members and some relaxing, its all good.....

Most of the time working on it helps me unwind... The other times I have to look at it as the best headache I could have.

Otay! The dent, other than a light skim coat is done! I need to weld the inner back in and grind it down. The wheels came out nice. I think I shoulda worn a respirator, they may have come out nicer. I plan on running these wheels for awhile. I'd like a nice set of Weld wheels, oh well, maybe later. If I have time after all the fun Easter stuff I'll work on it some more..... It is addicting.

Got some primer overspray on my wheels, oh well shoulda moved'em sooner. I've got several coats of clear on there, I should be able to fix them right up.... Heres the gas filler door I'm using. If I get to feeling better and all goes well, I'll at least have it tacked in by Thursday night.

Yep, too much time and effort in this one to beat it on a trail. But will all the leftovers I'm thinking of building a trail rig. Maybe my 70 K5 frame with a truck cab and a complete end to end roll cage.

Cut down your factory fill tube and braze it into the correct position, about all you can do with it.

Lots of good info on the board about this, no need for all the cofusion.

well, my body shop "lost" my original fuel neck. So that's why all the confusion.

Awesome thread man! Love all the pic's. Definetly an inspiration for my build. This will be my first frame off resto, and do have a lot off rust issues to deal with also. Seems like VT had a real nice gas filler setup changeover post a while back. Keep up the good work! K5 to stay alive!

At this point I have to look at the ones that are done to get my inspiration, lol... I have to say to myself, its gonna look like that, a couple times, haha. Yep VT showed me his setup. Just like I want, only I'm going with a round door.

I'm just giving you a hard time. I'd like to come and bs but I have to run to WV Friday after work for a equipment auction Sat. morning. It'd be closer to run to your house, lol... Definitely more fun too I'm sure....

No pics tonight, I forgot the camera at the house and its raining so I didn't run back over to get it... I got the piece I cut out tacked back in and now I need to bolt the splash shield in. Then check alignment and weld the rest back in, checking alignment along the way to make sure it doesn't pull in. I can't wait to cut a big hole next to the marker light for the gas filler door! not! lol.....

Made some progresss tonight. I welded up the rest of the inside and bolted up the splash guard. Got the trim holes filled in too. All thats left to do is some grinding and bolt the upper part of the wheel well back in. Started messing with the filler some. I can't quite decide where to put it. I'll post a pic of it of what I'm thinking now but I may move it back some. Centered in that space some more. What do yall think? I'm also toying with the idea of a billet gas door.
