48 panel truck

Chevette, I know that is cheating but it is a perk.

Went to a car show on Friday and that was great and I took the panel. After that our Durango died again. I will never buy a Dodge again. After spending 3 hours checking things out I figured out that it is the transmission range sensor. Which is a dealer only item . So I should just bend over and grab my ankles awhile! Was checking online and I think the valve body has to come out. If it was the panel I would do it but if something goes wrong I really do not want to buy a tranny for it. So it might just have to go to the shop. If that was not bad enough I was driving my chevy dually on Saturday and came to an intersection and the brake pedal went right to the floor. Two cars each way and with a just red light. Luckly no body was in a hurry and jumped the light! I thought it might be the hydro boost but thank god it was not , it was a rusted rear brake line. So about 14' of brake line later and now it is fixed, along with finally putting on the 4" exhaust. That diesel is still a turd. So for most of the weekend it was the panel that was the only one drivable out of the bunch! So hopefully back onto the fabrication on the 48 pickup. I would rather work on something old than the new stuff any day.

oldman3, Me too, I was sweating bullets. I came up to it and could not even think to take my foot of the clutch and go for the e brake or down shift. I don't need that to happen again!

99 to Life, No doubt there. Working on the the stuff you have to drive stinks. All Sunday was blown working on it. A least everything is running again.

_Ogre, Thank you. I do not know what I would do if I couldn't use the stuff. I guess I would probably be in the market for it. I do have a bench top mill at home but nothing beats a full size mill.

The drivers door auto-dimming mirror on my Suburban went bad. It was also a dealer only item and they wanted $370 just for the replacement glass. When I replaced the a/c compressor I needed a couple of washers that I also had to go to the dealer for, which cost me $20. It's that way with any brand of vehicles now so we might as well get used to it.

I'm glad your brake failure turned out OK. Hqve you ever noticed that when you have a brake failure like that the vehicle seems to speed up when you push the pedal?

That's why the newest vehicle I own is a 1990dodge diesel And the body is getting swaped soon hopefully!

I know they all seem to be junk. I told my wife I was going to get ride of my truck and get another 67-72 chevy pickup. I already had a few. The problem would be you know, I would have to lower it and custom this and that! I have not ruled that out though. I love old car and trucks.

I love the burb. you got me thinking of selling my tow pig, and building a Dually 454 AD burb... after the kids truck is done of course!

skymangs, boy you hit the nail on the head with the lowered and customized comment. I know I would have a hard time with shoe horning 3 kids into a standard cab Unless I.......... well I better get that thought right out of my head! Haha

Nothing is too new with the panel truck , but I am still collecting parts for my 54 chevy pickup. I got a really good deal on a 8.8 ford rear. It ended up being a 3:73 with posi so I was happy with that. This weekend I have to start putting rockers and cab corners in a buddies S10 for a complete S10 frame in trade. And I already have a 1988 350 with a 700R4 tranny so that will complete the drive line.

What size are the wheels/tires you are running on your truck? I ABSOLUTELY love how it sits and want to run the same combo on my panel.

jlwilliams598 , Thank you, I do not know the tire size right now but I will check. But the wheels are 20" in the back and 18" in the front. It sets about 6" off the ground at the running boards. I did have 2" drop spindles on it but took them off because it was to low.

I do stuff them all in. I have a back seat in it. They just have a hard time seing through the sides. Haha. I have thought about that but after sanding the side i have changed my mind. My wife does like the burbs. I told her i would start to look for one and she did not think i was funny. The first step is admitting you have an addiction.

I took this picture of my panel and my old 40 ford pickup. It was my first street rod. My buddy owns it now. I thought it was a cool looking picture. I probably will not drive the panel much now because 2 weeks ago I drove it to my buddies at 5:30 AM at 30 degrees and froze my A$$ off! I have to get the side windows and heat in it soon.

oldman3, Yes we made out alright. No water in the basement this year. And the roof I put on last did not leak. The reason we did not have any problems was because this year I was ready for it. New sump pump, a generator, And I put things up in the basement! I feel for everyone who got hit, I know what it was like from last year.
