I do have a lot of toys in that garage! The vette is still in the basement too! Barbie vette that is...
It's a Miller 135 with bottle, gloves, cart, and a Jackson $150 helmet. paid $537 on Ebay... I would like a 180 but don't have 220v in the garage and really don't need it for much other than body work right now. The guy barely used it so I feel like it was a "safe" buy....

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Picked up some new (kinda) parts today. Was flipping through craigslist and found some Flowmaster (40 series?) mufflers. He put an American Thunder catback system on his 5.0 mustang about 1,000 miles ago. Then wanted to change to Magnaflow based on the sound. so these are in "like new" condition. Seemed like a decent guy so hopefully they aren't stolen or something.... 2.5" ins and outs so now I am considering a pair of those corvette ramhorns. hmmmm....
Does anyone know what series Flowmasters come with the Amercian Thunder systems? It doesn't really say on the website.... I assume normal 40 series but it's just a guess...

Hey Mike, Sorry I missed you when you were down south. The surgery knocked me down a little harder than I thought. The mufflers look like 40 series. You're definitely going to have nice rumble when you get them installed. Take care. R/

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Decided to flip the ole' cab up today and get a close look at this floor... oh my god... what have I gotten myself into?
If I hadn't of already purchsed all the floor patches, i mean all that they make! Then I would consider an entire floor swap or even looking for a rust free cab. The undercoating that the PO kinda did the trick, but now I have to scrape it off by hand before I can get this rust bucket blasted! Just like the frame last summer.... I know that most of you guys would simply find another cab but I have to keep some of this truck original!

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Here's the driver fender, finally pulled the inners off to see if these were keepers... Noticed that the PO had to fill a rust spot over the wheel arch, looks good from the outside but you can see the mud on the inside. Also noticed that they filled the side emblems... I know the cup needs replaced and a board member has a good transplant for me... what's your guys thoughts?
Keep or dump?

Here's the pass fender, not bad shape except for this bondo area in the lower rear corner...
Keep or dump?

Mike,
Man that brings back memories. The more pain up front, the better the blasting will come out. There were a few areas on mine that I missed and the blasting didn't take it off. The torch is your best friend...

I'm half tempted to buy one of those new floors with braces though... My floor is already patched up and rusted... I will scrape a little more and see how it comes out...
I had to scrape my entire frame with a torch and putty knife too!

Glad to see you making some more progress Mike!
as far as the fenders, I say keep them - in my opinion, they're pretty easily repaired. But then again, I've never worked with anything that would be considered "rust free". keep at 'er man! -Sam.

Here are some more detailed pics of the carnage that is my cab floor... I think the cab is in good shape, except the bottom 12" of it!
Looking like becoming a candidate for a Tri-Pro full cab floor with braces, then I can sell my floor pans and out rear patches.... FYI The cab is tipped upon its back... sitting on the frame.. driver firewall/floor seam

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
and here's what I plan to make it all better... with a few more pieces of course... then cut the low hump out for my high hump ... will it ever end?
what do you guys think? Get it blasted, patch the crap out of, undercoat and be done... Or swap in the new $600+ floor and firewall?

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
JMHO, but I'd go with the 600.00 new floor board, if you patch up the old you will end up with a patched floorboard. If you put in the new floorboard no one will ever know, and you won't become that dreaded PO
BTW, subscribed...just read your whole build, very good work! Cool progress pics ROAD TRIP LOL

Sorry Mike to mislead, but I would do the whole floor from Tri-Pro

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
I'd say spend the money and go for the new floor as well. I've spent 6 months working on my cab and it wasn't as bad as yours. I guess at some point your time becomes just as valuable as your money. As long as the new floor is a good fit, just do it and be done with it. It's just money, you can always make more of it!!!

just kidding.... I have a color copier at work, of course i'll make more... still cheaper than a $1000-$2000 rust free cab i guess.

your cab is just like mine. All good except the bottom 12 inches. Must be a northeast thing. I think I'm going to get that floor with braces. Have you started to fit it yet?

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
No, i've been watching jaros44sr's install http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...210641&page=16
It starts about post #388, he is doing a floor and firewall install for Tri-Pro Automotive (guys that have these parts built). I might not make it over to NJ to pick mine up until mid August, unless I find a good reason for a road trip.... As far as starting to fit... well, i've done a lot of staring at my cab, wondering what in the heck to do with the floor! I'm gonna spray some of it down with my new pressure washer/sand blaster setup and see how much falls off.... pics to follow in two weeks!

just got back from 11 day vacation in Germany and France... as you can see I had a fun time on the Autobahn with my rental.... mama didn't like going much faster than that though....
third pic is how train from Paris back to Germany... nothing like a little 195 mph early morning ride! Got to see a few castles in Bavaria, Beaches of Normandy and Paris... had a great time besides the crappy dollar vs euro conversion! Flew military hop for $90 round trip for both of us....
