After floors are completed, we will clean the firewall and paint it.

Whatever color it is will be a flat or satin finish. My focus is on the underpinnings and drivetrain.

Slight change of plans. Going to be looking at a replacement cab on Friday. This should save time on repairs and the like...keeping fingers crossed.

OH man take a magnet with you, people lie like a big dog, take it slow and look at it a long long time, look and look untill you find all the flaws, you will be glad you took alot of time looking at it.

Places to REALLY look at are around The drip rail, inner lip around the top windshield (where the rearview mirror mounts), outer lip around the entire windshield (Pay very special attention to the corners), and the pinch seam where the wires are usually placed on the firewall (where yours has the rust in the pictures above) The cab corners, floor pans, inner and outer rockers, and the bottom of the rain tray/cowl panel are all common fixes. Once you move to the dog house, the passenger inner fender under the battery tray always rots out, and I have seen a growing number of rotted radiator supports on the same side under the battery tray. Bottoms of the fenders usually have some too. |

Be sure to inspect the same areas. I bought a cab that was the same way. It ended up having the same issues around the windshield with the caulking and bondo. I completely understand getting another cab over fixing that area. It isn't impossible to fix, but it is very time consuming |

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
So, as I mentioned before, we located a new cab. I went to look at it Thursday, had it delivered on Friday. It is in awesome shape!

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
So, the three of us lifted it off the pallet yesterday, and got it on Walt's custom made cab stand.
Cleaned it yesterday, and immediately started the fabrication of the Shifter location and custom console. It is remarkable - the floors, rockers, firewall...everywhere: Excellent shape. No rust at all.

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
Thanks guys! Walt and I will have fun getting this one together. One thing I forgot to post is my fuel cell and the filler door. I got this idea from Walt when I told him what I wanted to do in the interior.
Laid out, will be above the frame, just like the exhaust. Great fab work Walt. Posted via Mobile Device

Tell that guy to be carefully grinding around all that good glass. Those sparks will destroy it.

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
Hey guys! Thanks for the compliments, indeed! I got a little distracted over the last couple of days. I drove about 200 miles round trip to go buy a sister for Dianah! She will help Dianah get from point B to point F if needed. Something I have always wanted. A C30 Dually. Pics coming soon
PS - the grinding has been done really out of the cab, the angles might look like they are in there, but he is outside.
