Re: Crewcab build
Glad to see you've made a little progress. I was worried you may have given up........I know all too much about work getting in the way of projects. This is going to be such a bad ass truck. I'm looking forward to future updates......work permitting.

Re: Crewcab build
Just a quick picture. I bought enought tubing to re-clip from the axle back, hopefully will be done somewhat on Sunday. After looking at the price of a notch, this made alot more sense, and I gain some gas tank room!

Re: Crewcab build
So, I know I should be posting pics of progress, but you can't take pictures when you leave the camera at home! Got the notches built, I mean OVERBUILT! Thought I had picked up some 3x3x3/16 wall, but turned out I cant read a tape measure. It's acually 1/4 wall, so strength should not be an issue. Got everything cut, all the edges ground back for a full penetration weld, and just have to cut the framerails to length. Had to stop due to not being 100% on a dimension, more to come later this week!

Re: Crewcab build
Been slowly making progress, just spent the better part of last week taking alot of measurements and cutting all my pieces. 3x3x1/4 wall box tube is not fast to cut on the chop saw, especially when you make bonus cuts the wrong way.
![]() Anyway, here is my new frame clip that should drop inside the exterior frame rails this saturday: ![]() Last edited by PrerunnerRob; 12-04-2008 at 11:58 PM. |

![]() I actually thought I grabbed 3/16" at Sims, but I looked later and found the side I measured had gotten smashed at the end where I measured it. 8 places to check wall thickness, and I pick the one that is undersize! I may not be towing with this, but it will still serve duty hauling my dirtbike and quad. ![]() |

Re: Crewcab build
That turned out real nice.....and the welds are nice as well. Did you make up the link bars? I am curious as to why threaded ends on both ends.

Re: Crewcab build
Bought the 4 link from FBI(local truck vendor at shows), and thats how it came. Both ends are RH thread too, which I thought strange, but it was $180 with all the brackets. I assume it's to get a little more adjustment length out of it, but I'm not totally sure.
