Thanks bud! It's just paintable undercoating by duplicolor and about 8 cans of it! Truck is to do your first coat one direction say front to back then cross that after its dried in a cross hatch about twice the distance away from floor and gives you a nice texture...

Re: Big Red Dog

Troy, good show? Hope you guys had some good down time.

Let me know when to schedule another trip. I have the dolly made and it won't take much to finish up with a hood frame.

Hope any lurkers that might be considering doing what I did note the comment above. Troy did this in 3 months!

Dave.

Thank you for the compliment. It's been a fun and buisy build but well more than worth it to see another truck back to better than its former glory.

Btw here's a pic of the carnage from saterday!!! I'm guessing 49 years of abuse has taken its toll on the steel...

Well we made it to the show only to find out something was wrong when I backed up to park.. The smell of gear oil hits and a few clunks from the rear so I trailered it home pulled the cover to find a missing tooth on the ring gear! Oh and on top of that heard that a friend of mine drowned Friday night so not been a good few days. I should have everything done by the weekend, just need to polish everything I buffed. I will be out of town Sunday so if saterday works let me know. I will arrange some muscle to be there to help us load.

Truck looks great Troy. Sorry about the bad news of your friend. Also sorry about the missing tooth, that sucks. Gonna be able to bring her to the show in Wamego Thursday morning? There's the show on Wednesday night too.

Re: Big Red Dog

This was the first time sunlight hit the red. It is red. If anybody cares we got the paint code off my 2002 Dodge Ram 2500. There is a difference when they sit side by side (yup, made it home) and BRD is deeper, almost darker. I think it is from Troy's excellent work. The Dodge was last painted after hail damage by a dealer. There is a noticable difference between Troy's work and theirs!

I made up the "pallet" for the cab. After 4 of us got the cab on the trailer, I screwed the pallet to the trailer bed. I was asked if I was going to strap it and said, "Nah, I'm out of blankets."

I got the the gas station down the road and changed my mind. Glad I did. No rain, hail, tornados or other catastrophy. When I got home, 4 screws on 2 diagonals were broken and one screw on the firewall mount was broken. I didn't think about it but these new dry-wall type screws are very brittle and snap too easy. Use something else guys.

I told Troy that I'd bring the final product up for him to see, seeing as how they are good buddies now, when I get that far. I'll post the rest of the build in another thread and link to this thread for nubee's. That's me in the brown shirt being supervised by one of Troy's friends.

All of the ooo's and ahhas go to Troy and are well deserved.

BTW, Troy. I think Red would be a good dog name.

Dave.

A little sanding, a little spraying. Yeah, I can see that happening quickly. But I'd bet it won't be RED!
