Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
I know what you mean...being that we are a little older....uh, I mean wiser ........Back in the day, when I had my 64 Impala Wagon on Daytons...we used to pack that thing like 12 deep (right before seatbelt laws) I used to get pulled over all the time...never ticketed, just harassed.
Anyway..it's running good and I have been driving it everyday. I need to hurry and get it aligned though...my tires are showing a slight feathering. Thanks John

Finding this project very interesting to read. A great set of pictures too. It's a real help to me to see the work you are doing. Almost like having a shop manual to refer to. Keep it up Chief. All the best ,Phil.

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
I've a 66 Fleetside long bed 283ci, 4 speed granny box. Was in black primer from California but I thought the body needed a bit more protection from the English weather so it is now satin black. Fitted a pair of Smithy gas packs to wake the neighbours, but apart from that its stock. Plan maybe to lower it a few inches sometime. With petrol at $9 a gallon over here, any Mods will have to be Low budget.Phil.

Not much...I took it down yesterday to get the front-end aligned...thats pretty much it.
Polished up some aluminum last night and cleaned the whitewalls....getting ready for the meet this Saturday. (dont really need to wash the primer ) Have you got your electrical squared away yet ?? John

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
Naw, Mr. Chief, Rock-a-billy looks good how she is. The white roof and white-wall tires make a nice accent combo. In general I like the white-cab-above-the-doors look, but the whole package has to be considered. You've got a splash of red on the wheels and the dash, you've got a splash of white on the wheels and the roof, and the rest that mean get the hell outta my way flat black. It's a good look, more white on the cab will throw her out of balance.

Two reasons why I towed it this way. First of all I didn't want to "3-speed" it all the way there. I like to drive fast, and it would of taken me forever to get there. This thing really revs on the freeway. Niot sure it the rearend gears were changed at one time to a lower set or what. I never even checked the ratio. Second of all, we would of had to take another vehicle for my wife and kids. I towed it with the SuperDuty, and we all rode together. I think what is next is the M22 conversion. What do you run at on the freeway ?? John

Hey John, are you talking about a muncie m22? If so what are you going to do about the shifter and the bench seat?

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
Not sure yet. Probably a combination of linkage and seat modification.
There's got to be a simple way to get it in there....We will see. I would prefer a 700R4...but $$$ John
