Re: Bazooka's 63 build thread.
Thanks everyone..before I can drive it I need to order the following...
driveshaft. old one is now to short. tranny cooler the old one is ghetto and been hacked on. diff cover the old one was cracked. Also, Make rear brake lines/bleed brakes. Fill up the trans, rearend, and power steering with fluid. Before I drive it I will also probably rewire it with my rebel wiring harness and MAD electrical upgrade kit too. install my custom gauge panel and autometer gauges as well It's going to feel so good to be able to hop in this thing and take off.. Re: Bazooka's 63 build thread.
Before you toss the old drive-shaft, you may be able to still use it! Due to the angle of the drive-line you will need to run a CV joint on the drive-shaft (we normaly stick em behind the slip yolk on the trans) the new CV should make up the distance, and the old drive-shaft will actually need to be trimmed down a bit. By re-using the old drive-shaft, you should be able to save about $100.

Re: Bazooka's 63 build thread.
I work at a driveline shop so defiantly take your old driveshaft with you when you go get a new one, the ends are re usable and will save you money.

Re: Bazooka's 63 build thread.
I haven't touched the truck since I got it back home in my garage. Time and money have been a issue. I bought a chrome diff cover and a new tranny cooler for it. Haven't installed them yet though. I think I'm going to start tinkering with it again pretty soon..

Re: Bazooka's 63 build thread.
Not really sure what I'm going to do yet. I change my mind alot. Thinking about leaving it as is and running the wheels I have. Might throw some white walls on with those bullet center caps I bought for it awhile back.

Re: Bazooka's 63 build thread.
What headers are you using? Any clearance issues with them?

Re: Bazooka's 63 build thread.
Cheap ebay specials. Fit like a glove.. They are not intended for use on our trucks but they fit fine
I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the hookers at $400. I ended up ordering these ceramic coated headers. I found them for $180 shipped. Some of the guys on here are using these on bagged trucks and they have even more clearance on a truck with a SD crossmember or PB dropmember.. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=346197 Last edited by Bazooka; 02-17-2010 at 01:55 AM. |
